Invasive Species Curriculum Workshop For Grades 6-8 Teachers July 11 & 12, 2019 Invasive species are non-nave plants, animals, insects and diseases that threaten our environment, health and economy and are a major ecological threat in the Finger Lakes region and throughout NYS. Due to a lack of predators, invasive species populaons grow quickly and outcompete our nave species for resources, disrupng food webs and even endangering some species. It is crucial that students have a basic under- standing of invasive species and the importance of environmental stewardship. Teachers will learn the history of invasive species and parcipate in hands-on idenficaon of high priority aquac and terrestrial invasive species in this 2-day workshop. Invasive Species Curriculum Workshop For Grades 6-8 Teachers

July 11 & 12, 2019 Invasive species are non-native plants, animals, insects and diseases that threaten our environment, health

and economy and are a major ecological threat in the Finger Lakes region and throughout NYS. Due to a lack

of predators, invasive species populations grow quickly and outcompete our native species for resources,

disrupting food webs and even endangering some species. It is crucial that students have a basic under-

standing of invasive species and the importance of environmental stewardship. Teachers will learn the

history of invasive species and participate in hands-on identification of high priority aquatic and terrestrial

invasive species in this 2-day workshop.
