The owner’s goal was to achieve a LEED Gold rating on their new building. Sprig Electric designed a 1,896 solar panel system that accounted for 35% of the building’s energy usage and earned a total of eight LEED points, including a regional priority point. Sprig Electric surveyed the site to determine the maximum area for the solar arrays. The best location was on the roof of the building, but limited in area. Sprig created a design by careful selection of PV components, solar module arrangement and supporting equipment to achieve the production goal while staying within budget. Sprig Electric worked with a structural engineer to design a support system for the solar arrays. A ballasted mounting system was utilized to minimize roof penetrations and provide a lightweight install. Sprig also coordinated with PG&E for connection to the electrical system. During the process, Sprig worked with multiple construction trades on site seamlessly toward successful completion. SCOPE OF WORK

• Design/Build• New Construction• Commercial• 1,896 Solar Panels• Ballast Mount

Intuitive Surgical designs and manufacturers robotic surgical systems and is headquartered in Sunnyvale.

Sprig worked with the city of Sunnyvale to pass through the requirements of the solar system.
