description
This presentation illustrates psychological differences in people's ability to cope with negative information in demanding conditions. Specifically, the presented research found that people with intuitive affect-regulation skills (i.e. action-orientation; Kuhl, 1981) counter irrelevant negative information better in a demanding context than people without those skills (i.e. state-orientation). Conversely, state-oriented people appear to thrive more in a demanding context.
