THE DETAILSThis course is aimed at those employed or volunteering in a school that have limited experience of supporting teaching and learning within a classroom environment. The course will help you to gain the underpinning knowledge of the organisational procedures followed within a school, strategies to support students in the classroom and to differentiate your approach. The course includes modules to develop your professionalism, understanding the policies and procedures which a school must operate under, and assess how the role of a teaching assistant supports this.

THE DETAILSThe Level 2 Apprenticeship in Supporting Teaching is designed to give you the skills and confidence to make a difference in a range of young people’s lives. You will study the policies, procedures and legislation surrounding the delivery of the support in a primary school environment. You will analyse and develop the skills necessary to become a successful teaching assistant, with different strategies to support students being one of the key parts of the course. You will learn about the professional behaviours needed to become a successful teaching assistant.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS> Preferably GCSEs at grade C/

grade 4 and above (or equivalent) in English and maths

> Have passed a numeracy and literacy test

THE DETAILSThe Diploma is for teaching assistants or volunteers (with a minimum of six months’ experience) who may or may not be employed within the setting. It will provide you with a secure understanding of the knowledge and skills needed to support their development and practice.

THE DETAILSThe level 4 Certificate is a teaching qualification in which you will gain a fundamental understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a teacher/trainer, planning for inclusive learning, methods in delivering and assessing in education and training, and the use of resources in education and training.

You should be qualified/experienced in the subject you wish to teach to at least level 3, with good levels of language, literacy and numeracy. You should be IT literate and you must have access to 30 hours of teaching. This qualification is also suitable for those delivering education and training in any learning environment.

THE DETAILSThe full Diploma comprises of six modules (three at level 4, and three at level 5 or level 6 for those choosing the ProfGCE route).The Diploma is the expected qualification for those teaching in the post compulsory education sector (16+). This does not qualify you to be a primary or secondary school teacher. If this is the route for you then you would need to apply for a full-time course in Primary-Secondary Education at CCCU.

The Award is in two parts with the first being a taught Theory Unit which you will have to complete before you can move onto the Practical Unit. The Theory Unit is assessed though a series of written questions after each session. For the Practical Unit you must have access to at least two students who are studying a qualification in which you are suitably qualified and experienced in to assess.

MidKent College will not be able to find the students for you to assess. You are responsible for sourcing your own candidates.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTSYou must have access to two students that you can assess and a qualified IQA who can confirm your competency of assessment in the Practical Unit. You must have relevant subject qualification and/or experience in the subject that you are assessing.

For the Practical Unit you must have access to at least two students who are studying a qualification in which you are suitably qualified and experienced in to assess. This includes qualifications which are assignment based rather than relating to practical tasks and can include qualifications such as GCSEs, HNCs and up to degree level dependent on what you assess. You will need to use at least four different assessment methods to prove your competence.

THE DETAILSThis Award is suitable for qualified assessors who also undertake the IQA role to achieve a formal recognised qualification in quality assurance. The Award is in two parts with the first being a taught Theory Unit which you will have to complete before you can move onto the Practical Unit. You must have access to two assessors that you can assess and a qualified IQA who can confirm the competency of your quality assurance decisions in the Practical Unit which will be observed by our assessor as part of the completion of the qualification. MidKent College will not find the assessors for you.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTSYou must have a relevant subject qualification and/or experience in the subject that you are internally quality assuring.

FUTURE PROSPECTSYou could work in all occupational areas where technical and professional qualifications exist including care, construction, engineering and catering. You could progress to lead a team of assessors or become a training manager.

THE DETAILSThis Award is suitable for qualified assessors who also undertake the IQA role to achieve a formal recognised qualification in quality assurance. The Theory Unit is assessed through a series of written questions after each of the sessions. This will involve a deeper understanding of the IQA and EQA process and highlights the importance of ensuring that you are making the correct decisions when guiding and feeding back to students.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTSYou must have access to two assessors that you can assess and a qualified IQA who can confirm the competency of your quality assurance decisions in the Practical Unit which will be observed by our assessor as part of the completion of the qualification. You must have a relevant subject qualification and/or experience in the subject that you are internally quality assuring.

FUTURE PROSPECTSYou could work in all occupational areas where technical and professional qualifications exist including care, construction, engineering and catering. You could progress to lead a team of assessors or become a training manager.
