•By the end of this unit you will be able to:
•Use digital equipment and technology to generate, research, edit, store and deliver media material
•Show that you understand the advantages of using digital technology
•Evaluate your own level of competence in using the equipment and technology
About Unit 5✓ On completion of this unit a learner should:
Research New Media
Produce four New Media products
Ring Tone and Logo for a mobile phone
Create and edit digital photos, save in appropriate place
Develop a short video with credits
Create a website to host the above
Show proof that you have emailed at least one of the projects
Be able to review own production work.
What is New Media?
• New media is a catch-all term for all forms of electronic communication
• Broadband internet Websites Blogs and Wikis
• CD and DVD media, Video games and virtual worlds
• Online communities (Bebo, My-Space, Face Book)
• Mobile devices, PDA’s, mini laptops
•How are new media products composed?
• Look at media products in their appropriate industries
•identify the technologies used
•You will need to look at 2 new media products and how they are used in your chosen industry.
How are New Media Products used in the industry?
What technology is used to create New Media Products?
study at least 3 of the following:
•Cameras (still and video)
•Computers
•Editing suites
•Mobile phones
Using Apple Mac
•You will use Apple Mac Machines
•Digital Cameras / Tripod / Tape
• iMovie and iPhoto / Photo Booth
Tasks
• Create a Ring Tone and Logo to send to your Mobile Device
• Create Digital Photos and Manipulate them
• Develop and Edit a Short Video Clip with Credits
• Create a Website to host your work and include a Podcast (could be your evaluation)
