Introduction

The configtool is the most important offline administerive tools for the SAP J2EE Netweaversystem, this wiki will cover the basic and most important configration aspects of the configtool, detailing the configtools relationship with the database and the secre store and also how to

configre the !vm parameters of all the systems nodes as it is a common re"est from SAPSpport in order for the system to rn smoothly#

Netweaver 6.40, 7.00, 7.01, 7.02 and 7.03:Starting the Configtool

The configtool is located in the following directory$

% &sr&sap&'system ()*&'instance ()*&!2ee&configtool

)epending on yor operating system yo will need to rn configtool#bat or configtool#sh +forconfigtool#sh yo will need to rn this command throgh a ptty session on a windows host with

-nce yo select yes, the configtool will find the SecStore#properties and se the informationfrom that file to connect to the database# (f for some reason the database is down or if one ofthe parameters is incorrect the connection to the database fails and yo see the following error$

.licking /-0/ will allow s access to configtool to correct any invalid parameters stopping sfrom connecting the database$

he Secure Store

The Secre Store is an encrypted file that contains information on the database connectionparameters and the administrator ser for the J2EE Netweaver system# 1ere is a rn down ofthe parameters$

admin/host/<sid>: The Host the J2EE system resides on.

admin/password/<sid>: The Password of the administrator user, this is important for deployment

and similar functions

admin/port/<sid>: This is the P port of the system, a!ain this is for deployment tas"s.

admin/user/<sid>: This is the administrator user for the system, for Ja#a only stac"s it$s usually

%&dministrator% and for duel stac"s normally %J2EE'&()*+%. &!ain the

user is set here mainly for deployment purposes.

 d-c/pool/<sid>/lass+ame: The data-ase dri#ers

d-c/pool/<sid>/Password: The data-ase users password, &n incorrect #alue here is the most common

 pro-lem with data-ase connection issues.

d-c/pool/<sid>/rl: ontains all the important data-ase connection information such as host and

port etc, different for each data-ase

d-c/pool/<sid>/ser: This is the data-ase user which should e0ist on the (1 side, sually in the

form &P<sid>(1. The incorrect #alue in the a-o#e screenshot is why it did

not connect a-o#e.
