Introduction to depression
Depression is a state of low mood and aversion to
activity that can affect a person's thoughts,
behavior, feelings and sense of well-being.
Depressed people may feel sad, anxious, empty,
hopeless, worried, helpless, worthless, guilty,
irritable, hurt, or restless.
Depressed mood is not necessarily a psychiatric
disorder. It may be a normal reaction to certain
life events, a symptom of some medicalconditions, or a side effect of some drugs or
medical treatments.
CAUSES OF DEPRESSION…

Long Term Events:Long-term unemployment, living in an abusive or uncaring relationship, long-term isolation or loneliness, family history, personality, serious medical illness.
Self-HatredHarassment, peer pressure, and an urge to
fit in, all could lead to depression. The desire to be skinny or “perfect”, and
self-disappointment lead to self-hatred

Self-HarmSelf-harm (SH) or deliberate self-harm (DSH) includes
self-injury (SI) and self-poisoning and is defined as the
intentional, direct injuring of body tissue most often
done without suicidal intentions.

Ways tocontrol
• Always maintain a support system for example your friends and tell them your problems so that they can help you out.
• Always be around positive thinking people.
• Keep yourself preoccupied with other stuff for example sports And reading books. Try various therapies and remedies for example music or art therapy if you are still not able to get over depression then
• Try to consult a psychiatrist as soon as possible.
