What is computer science about?
The Science of Computation
Create automatic intelligent machinery for information processing

What is programming?
use a computer language,
to write down instructions (a program ) for the computer,
so that the computer hardware can behave in a way we want

How do I learn in this course?
The Read-Write-Try Cycle Exposure! Exposure! Exposure! Try on your own as hard as you can Seek help when you really get stuck

How do I learn in this course?
It often helps a lot if youmake friends in the class and learn together.

Geoffrey Knopf (Engineering Physics) May 2013 “… I used a numerical method called the
bisection method which is similar to the binary search algorithm presented in CSCI 105. This improved the performance of the algorithm exponentially.
Fortunately, I was able to develop the entire software application using the tools I learned from CSCI 105 and 106.

Geoffrey Knopf (Engineering Physics) May 2013…In exchange for my work, Fabcon has issued me a handsome check. In addition, I am working towards getting the software licensed so that I can sell it to other manufacturing companies. It may help pay for college. All that being said, I have found Biola's computer science classes very applicable.”
