Short folk stories will be selected and character from the story we will figure out. After that step by step character will be actualized by syn be done through fun exercise, presentations and lectures. Three different aspects are covered in Clay Modeling to Create Character workshop. Clay modeling, drawing and character making. Clay modeling is a very old medium for expression and communication. Through this medium learning of three dimensional composition and communication through three dimensions can happen. As well as 3D model making skill also can be upgraded. Drawing itself is very useful medium of visual expression and communication. Imagination and creativity is involved in character making portion. Through this process creativity and imagination can be enriched. All these learning will be very useful for art and design. Course objective To provide learning of clay modeling and visual expression through two dimensions and three dimensions. To provide opportunity to enhance and enrich imagination and creativity. To equip participants to various aspects of characters involving emotions, expressions, gestures, exaggeration, motion etc. To provide opportunity to learn through hands on activity with fun. Course content •Understanding relation between story and character; Attributes of a character: exaggeration, emotions, gestures, expressions etc. •Understanding of materials like pencil, water colour pencil, synthetic clay etc. •Understanding of different aspects of drawing. •Understanding of different aspects of clay modeling.

Methodology

Shekhar Bhattacharje: Shekhar Bhattacharjee is a faculty member of Toy & Game Design, NID. Currently he is teaching design drawing, Colour & Form, Structure & Composition, material exploration, Character design in toy and in Common courses for post graduate students, National Institute of design.
