Hampton Swing MooringsCurrent Situation

52 Authorised Moorings at Hampton, held by 46 individuals – some with multiple moorings.

In the last 18 months Parks Victoria has received10 documented reports of concerns about inadequate swing room.

In a meeting with HSMA in 2011 overcrowding was identified as a key issue.

Current Situation

The mooring ground is “tight” with swing rooms having been reduced due to a range of issues, including a tendency for larger boats, moorings being shifted and sand encroachment.

Parks Victoria’s Plan

To reduce the number of moorings by 8 – 10 so as to free up some space to allow for the reconfiguration of the mooring ground.

Timing will depend on two things:

1.Time it takes to achieve reduction in moorings.

2.Opportunities for funding.

Hampton Swing Moorings

Achieving Reduction• Compliance• Temporary halt of transfers. If a mooring holder no longer

wants their mooring it should be relinquished.• If you do not have a boat registered to the mooring, it will be

cancelled.

(similar strategy has reduced RMYS moorings

from 140 to 60 over the last few years)
