Introduction
“Imagine something small, starting something big.”
It happened once when a simple carpenter shared his life with 12
close friends. For 3 years they ate together, played together,
learned together, traveled together, laughed together, cried
together, and even fought together.
Their lives were changed, and then they went out and changed
the world. The question is: do you believe this can happen
today? I do!
Imagine the direct descendant of that group of followers (the
church) doing the same thing today. Groups of dozens of people,
sometimes a few more, sometimes a few less, sharing life
together. Eating, playing, learning, traveling, laughing, crying,
and even fighting!
Whatever you call them; life groups (small groups) have the
potential to change lives, a church, and even the world! It CAN
be done and it HAS been done!
I want to personally invite YOU to join one of our spring session
life groups. Our leaders are primed and ready to help you build
stronger relationships with others, but more importantly, a
stronger relationship with God.

Confident Parenting
When: Wednesdays 6:30pm – 8:00pm
Where: Destiny Church: 526 E. Harrison, Republic
Who: Couples or single parents
Led By: Steven and Amanda Place
In our day and age, where busyness tends to rule the roost, we find
ourselves parenting using the methods of trial and error. In Confident
Parenting, we will journey together as we explore various strategies that
will help us become intentional in our parenting and have confidence
while doing it. In this journey we will discover time-tested advice and
strategies that cover various topics ranging from breaking generational
chains of dysfunction to creating warm atmospheres at home to handling
discipline and blessing our children with a legacy of faith. It is our goal
to take the “just-try-to-keep-up” and/or the “default-to-old-habits”
parenting styles we find ourselves reluctantly practicing and to get out in
front of that process so we can forge God-honoring families, which
seems to be one of the most difficult tasks we face as Christian parents
today.
Steven and Amanda are the proud parents of twelve children that range in ages 9 months
to 20 years. They have been members of DC for nearly a
year and have been life group leaders before. They have
a heart for families, as they have faced virtually every
type of parenting situation from traditional parenting to
step-parenting to foster-parenting to absent parents to
difficult co-parenting with an ex-spouse and God-
willing, they will soon get to embrace adoptive-
parenting. They don’t have it all figured out, but have a
desire to reach families and help parents to become
intentional and confident about raising families that
honor God and change legacies.
DC Kids
When: Wednesdays 6:30pm – 8:00pm
Where: Destiny Church: 526 E. Harrison, Republic
Who: Students grades K through 5th
Led By: Pastor Dean Ferguson
DC Kids is the student ministry of Destiny Church that includes grades
K-5th. This semester we will be teaching the kids about each of the 27
books in the New Testament while helping them memorize these books.
Bring your child by the church and then go enjoy your life group… just
don’t forget to pick them up when you are done!
Dean joined the staff of DC at the beginning of the year and oversees the children’s ministry and the life
group ministry at the church. He also works at Boys and Girls Town
in an emergency shelter for abused and neglected kids and teens.
He recently became engaged to Katie VonAllmen and they are both
excited about their future together serving at DC.
Dean enjoys watching and playing sports in his free time, or reading
a good book with coffee in hand.
Free to Just Be Me
When: Wednesdays 6:30pm – 8:00pm
Where: Buchanan home: 480 E. Lombardy, Republic
Who: Women only
Led By: Jamie Ward
This study will cover a number of different topics to help women that
struggle at times with feelings of inadequacy, a lack of self motivation,
and the inability to have personal dreams for the future.
This group will focus on helping women become strong while
developing a personal gentleness and steadfastness in every area of life. Jamie is a wife and mother. She would describe herself as eccentric, imaginative and
unconventional, but most importantly in love with a God who loved her first. The Lord
has called her to inspire and refine the women she is blessed to come in contact with. She
is a firm believer that our journey is by no
accident and our choices made in the past never
shocked God or made Him unable to use us, but
rather make us more qualified to bring Him great
glory! Jamie wants to help women relent and
allow God to write their life story by abandoning
all fears and thoughts of inadequacy and in the
community of other woman - find themselves
fleshing out their God given dreams!
More Than a
Carpenter
When: Thursdays 6:30pm – 8:00pm
Where: Destiny Church: 526 E. Harrison, Republic
Who: Anyone
Led By: Pastor Dean Ferguson
In this life group we wil be reading and discussing Josh McDowell’s
book, More Than a Carpenter. The book and discussions will focus on
Jesus’ deity, His resurrection, and His claims that apply to our lives.
This group is open for everyone, but especially people who consider
themselves skeptic or for those who believe… but have trouble knowing
why. At the end of this group, you will know that your faith in Jesus
doesn’t have to be a “blind” faith.
Dean joined the staff of DC at the beginning of the year and
oversees the children’s ministry and the life group ministry at the
church. He also works at Boys and Girls Town in an emergency
shelter for abused and neglected kids and teens. He recently
became engaged to Katie VonAllmen and they are both excited
about their future together serving at DC.

Moriah 12, Makhai 8, and Maddux 4.
Raising a Modern Day
Knight
When: Wednesdays 6:30pm – 8:00pm
Where: Destiny Church: 526 E. Harrison, Republic
Who: Men of any age who are raising boys
Led By: Mark Walters
When did you become a man? This question is difficult for many men
today to answer. This life group will look to not only answer this
question but it will equip all fathers with sons (or grandfathers raising
grandsons) on how to help your son answer this question. Each father
will not only know how to help their son become a man, but how to raise
him to be a man who honors God with his life.
Mark and his wife, Diana, have been married for 23 years. They have 2 children, Erica
(17), and Jordan (14). Mark has a chiropractic clinic in Mt. Vernon and another in Shell
Knob. This study has totally transformed his
relationship with his son and has given him the
roadmap on how to be a successful dad.
Sexuality and the

When: Wednesdays 6:30pm – 8:00pm
Where: Penney home: 1723 E. Primrose, Republic
Who: Women only 19 and older

the feminine heart- our sexuality. This is a women only group. Single
and married ladies are welcome but over 18 please.
Nicole has been married for 15years to her high school sweetheart, Bill. They have 3
children and live outside the Mt. Vernon area. Their family has been a part of DC for 3

and as women in general.
Stacey is married to Bryan and they have two
kids, Andrew and Addison. Their family was
on the team that launched DC in May 2006.
Stacey is a financial planner who helps people
manage their financial lives to work towards
achieving their goals. She enjoys connecting

The Five Love
Languages
When: Sundays 4:00pm – 5:30pm
Where: Destiny Church: 526 E. Harrison, Republic
Who: Engaged & Married Couples
Led By: Tadd & Anne Buchanan
Have you ever noticed in your relationship that what speaks volumes to
you may be meaningless to your spouse? In this life group you will learn
the key to understanding each other’s unique needs. Your relationship
will become stronger as you learn more about your partner and work
together to compete in activities against other couples.
Tadd an Anne have been married for 11 years and
understand how critical a healthy marriage is for a
healthy family. They have built their family on the
Biblical principles of putting God first, spouse
second and children third. Tadd and Anne currently
live in Springfield and enjoy spending time with
their three children; Drew, Evan and Sage. As a
family they love the Cardinal's, being outdoors and
taking "adventures out there trips". As a couple they
love to have date nights and wonder what they did
with all their time before they had children.
The Frazzled Female
When: Tuesdays 10:00am – 11:00am
Where: Miller Park: 711 E. Miller Road (playground area)
Who: Women only
Led By: Jen Buchanan
The Frazzled Female Bible Study by Cindi Wood is a resource designed
especially for women. By sitting at the feet of Jesus and absorbing
His teaching, women will be able to deal with essential issues like
managing their time, getting along with difficult people, taking time for
themselves, and even organizing their lives. This thought-provoking,
yet light-hearted, study helps women discover practical, biblical help to
confront issues that otherwise leave them discouraged. It helps
participants develop biblical skills to handle stressful situations; grow in
their relationship with Jesus; and ultimately experience peace, joy, and a
saner lifestyle.
Jen is a new mommy and facing the daily challenges that
every mom goes through. She has been married for 7
years and been attending DC for over 2 years. She recently
went from focusing on a career to a stay at home mom; life
has definitely "Frazzled" this female! She is excited to
connect and dig into this Bible study with other “Frazzled”
females.
The Resolution
When: Sundays 1st service or 3rd service
Where: Destiny Church: 526 E. Harrison, Republic

Based off the movie Courageous, this life group will challenge you to
get out of your comfort zone, work through hidden issues from your
past, and make strategic sacrifices for the sake of your family and your
faith.
Those who step up to the challenge will find that living out “The
Resolution” will radically impact their priorities and assist them in
becoming strong men who are found faithful. It will take courage, but it
will be worth it all. There will be a ceremony honoring all the men who
successfully complete this life group.
Tony joined the staff of DC at the beginning of
this year. He and his wife Amy have two
children: Braden and Morgan. Tony grew up in
Nixa and loves anything that has to do with
outdoor activities.

Whether you want to save 5% or 50% on your families grocery bill, I
can help you out! In this couponing connect group, we will learn the
basics of couponing & learn how to shop smarter. It REALLY is
possible to cut your grocery bill in half! Who doesn't want to save
money? I am in NO way an "extreme couponer" that has a stockpile
with 700 tubes of toothpaste, and 52 boxes of cereal. However, wouldn't
it be amazing if we all learned how to get items for pennies, or even
FREE (believe me, it's possible) for our own families, and even give
back to the Kingdom of God by donating to DC's food pantry?! Come
connect with other amazing DC women as we grow our relationships
with each other and learn how to save money!
Amy and Matt have 2 beautiful boys, Parker (6) and Rylan
(2). They have attended DC for 3 years. Amy is a hair
stylist in Republic. She enjoys spending time with her
family and friends, shopping, and going to the lake.
Disc Golf
When: 1st & 3rd Saturdays 10:00am – 11:30am
Where: Miller Park 711 E. Miller Road, Republic
Who: Anyone
Led By: Pastor Dean Ferguson & Katie VonAllmen
What is Disc Golf anyway? Disc Golf is one of the fastest growing
outdoor recreational activities in the country. Similar to golf, the object
of Disc Golf is to complete each hole in as few throws (strokes in the
traditional game) as possible. Instead of using golf clubs and a golf ball,
disc golfers use a flying disc to traverse each hole by flying their disc
from a teeing area to a disc-catching target… but the main goal is to just
have some fun getting to meet other people from DC.
Dean joined the staff of DC at the beginning of the year and
oversees the children’s ministry and the life group ministry at
the church. He also works at Boys and Girls Town in an
emergency shelter for abused and neglected kids and teens. He
recently became engaged to Katie VonAllmen and they are
both excited about their future together serving at DC.
Dean enjoys watching and playing sports in his free time, or
reading a good book with coffee in hand. Katie recently
graduated from Drury with a teaching degree. She enjoys
musicals, ping pong, and Italian food.
Hoops
When: 1st Sunday in May 6:00pm – 8:00pm
Where: McCulloch Elementary School, Republic
Who: Men only
Led By: Ben Ward
This is a time for men to connect and play a little basketball. Come out
with your game-face on and bring your skills or not-so good skills.
Either way you will enjoy some great exercise and great company.
Bring a friend!
Ben and Jamie have been married for 5 years and are new to the parenthood game
by adopting their first child, Paxton, in February 2011. They have been serving at
Destiny Church for over 4 years. Ben enjoys sports, eating, playing with his son
and hanging out with the wife.

Whether its veggie California rolls or spicy tuna rolls, we would love to
get to know you better while enjoying a few sushi rolls. So join us on

this summer. They have 5 children and 2 grand children, which keep them pretty
busy! They have attended DC since July 2010.
SAS Connect
When: Friday April 27th 7:00pm – 8:30pm
Where: Destiny Church: 526 E. Harrison, Republic
Who: Women only
Led By: Tosha Blansit
Here is your chance to connect with other women at DC. These nights
will include finger foods (brought by everyone), movies, games, get to
know you activities, and much more. For more information on this group
please contact Tosha Blansit at [email protected] or one of the
SAS Committee members.
Tosha grew up with both parents in full time ministry. Although church and God were
supposed to be important to her, she reached a point in her life where she wanted nothing
to do with it. During the 2 years after graduation God was definitely teaching her lessons
and molding her into the woman He wanted. In 2002, Chad and Tosha were married and
were in full-time ministry in 4 different cities within the first 2 years. Little did they
know that God was preparing and teaching them for the biggest radical change of their
lives.....Destiny Church. Chad and
Tosha have three wonderful kids,
Moriah, Makhai, and Maddux. They
love family vacations to Disney World
and hiking/camping. Tosha loves
photography, scrapbooking,
friendships, shopping, coffee,
chocolate, watching movies, the beach,
and most of all big smiles.
Starting Point
When: Two Sundays/Monthly 5:00pm – 6:30pm
Where: Blansit home: 534 E. Grace, Republic
Who: Anyone
Led By: Pastor Chad and Tosha Blansit
Starting Point is a 2-week Life Group that clearly explains who we are
