MAKEUP

Makeup shouldn’t require too much in-depth instruction. The key to the best makeup looks is to choose quality products that are a breeze to use. Adopting makeup tips and routines that are simple – but look sophisticated – is the secret to making magic when your makeup bag and morning are butting heads. So save the big statement looks for the weekend, and go with flattering foundations and tried-and-true textures for everyday wear.

And remember, there is no need to overhaul your entire kit as trends come and go. Take cues, but not commands, from trends, and always base your buys around quality brands.

1 Olivia’s Wilde EyesOlivia Wilde is the first to admit that she loves to play up her eyes. “I never had beautiful, luscious lips -- that was never my defining characteristic. I focus more on playing with my eye makeup, I’ve always enjoyed it,” says the Revlon brand ambassador.

“A strong eye and a strong lip is hard for my face… I have a really strong jaw. So for me, I just have to be cognizant of the way that it transforms my face.”

Megan Gale’s Eyes“When I make up Megan Gale, I look to simply accentuate her features,” explains Elsa Morgan, L’Oreal Paris Makeup Director. For eyes, it’s about upping the ante on lashes and liner, she adds. “I always give Megan’s lashes a good curl, before layering a few coats of my favourite mascara. And a perfect, slim, black liner pen is a must for extending and slightly lifting the lash line.” The final step is a beautiful brow, she adds. “This really brings out Megan’s stunning bone structure, so I lengthen and define the brows, and use the wax tip of the pencil to set the shape for the long haul.”

Kylie Minogue’s LashesWhen it comes to applying false lashes, “Kylie Minogue likes a natural look,” reveals celebrity hair and makeup artist, Helen Dowsley. “Placing the longest lash in the middle of the eye will give the illusion that your eye is more open and rounder,” she explains. “It’s a very pretty look that’s very in now.” Keep two natural lashes out at the corner, she adds, so it won’t drop the eye, or make you look tired or sad.”

4 Kate Middleton’s Bridal BeautyD.I.Y has never looked better than with Kate Middleton’s makeup for her 2011 wedding. Taking tips in preparation for the big day, from beauty guru, Arabella Preston, she stuck with what suits her best. Today, the iconic, thickly lined eyes, perfectly groomed brows, and soft taupe shadow (rumoured to be largely baring the Bobbi Brown moniker!) show she knows what suits her, and she’s sticking to it!

3 Taylor Swift’s Smokey EyeFor Clinique Global Colour Artist, Jenna Menard - who has worked with Taylor Swift - the best modernisation of the classic smoky eye is done with bronzes. A big fan of layering colour, Jenna favours blending neutral shades in bronze as a base, and layering, so the wearer can play around and make the look their own.

6 Cara Delevigne’s Long Lasting Lip ColourLloyd Simmonds, Creative Director Makeup YSL, suggests for model Cara Delevingne’s long-lasting lip colour, you should “apply lipstick with a brush, for a super clean shape, then blot gently with a tissue, and for extra staying power, brush with translucent face powder to set, and then re-apply a little lipstick in the centre of the lips, to re-hydrate and concentrate the colour.”

Elle Macpherson’s Full Lip TipOralie Maylin, Laura Mercier Makeup Artist and Brand Ambassador – who works with Elle Macpherson and Jade Jagger – swears by using brightening powder across the eyelid, before applying eye shadow, to reduce redness and create a beautiful soft veil underneath shadow. In addition, she says a brightening pen is great after you have applied your lipstick, to pop a little onto the cupid’s bow of the lip. “A great finishing touch to brighten the lip area and make them look fuller.”

8 Illuminate like Doutzen Kroes“The best and the only place skin illuminator should be applied is on top of your cheekbones, working up and around your temples, blending it in to your hairline, and fading out to nothing,” advises makeup artist, Jodie Boland, who has worked with Naomi Watts, Kirsten Wiig, and Doutzen Kroes.

Nicole Trunfio’s ContourContour is king when it comes to creating the perfect canvas. For Nicole Triunfo, The Napoleon Creative Team used soft powder foundation to warm the face, applied to the hairline, under the cheekbones, and through the socket of the eye. A matte peach blush then accentuated her golden skin tone, providing a natural flush.

Cheeks

Shanina Shaik’s Cheeky TintCheek tints are favoured by Victoria’s Secret model, Shanina Shaik, says her makeup artist, Elsa Morgan, L’Oreal Paris Makeup Director. “When working with Shanina, I love to enhance her already gorgeous skin, by simply blending a sheer foundation, to even out the complexion,” she says. “Shanina’s cheeks look amazing with blush, but to keep the skin looking as natural as possible, I skip the powder blushes.” Designed to mimic the way your cheeks glow when flushed, the most flattering shades to safely stick to are pinks and plums.

11Cara Delevigne’s Full Coverage Foundation“Always match your foundation colour to the colour of your neck and body, as the face is usually lighter or darker by several tones,” says Lloyd Simmonds, Creative Director Makeup YSL. “If you want to do strong eyes, do your eyes before you do your foundation. It’s easier to clean up stray shadow from clean skin, and you don’t have to redo your foundation if you make a mis-take,” he suggests. Intensify any eye shadow by layering it over a creamy pencil, just like model Cara Delevingne.

Clean and Clear like GwynethMakeup artist Liz Kelsh - who has worked with Gwyneth Paltrow for Max Factor - explains that as you age, your skin’s renewal process slows down dramatically, making pores appear larger. Manage this with regular exfoliation, and a foundation that goes on creamy and buildable. “That way you can add more coverage where needed, keeping lighter coverage on areas that are clear.”

13

12Dita von Teese’s Dermatologist RuleDita Von Teese’s approach to her skin proves as sharp as her image. “It doesn’t really matter which moisturiser you use; there are no miracles in jars,” the fan of Eminence and Trilogy skincare brands has said. “Use the cream with a texture and scent you like, and also steer clear of dermatologists that have their own skincare lines...they try to push,” she says. She observes that finding a dermatologist that’s devoted to your skin health, rather than how many sales they can make, is the best option.

Tina Arena’s Even ComplexionTina Arena’s makeup artist, Shella Martin, opts for French products on the Australian-born, Parisian-based icon. “Tina discovered Bioderma while she was living in Paris, and has used it ever since,” she says, adding that she also uses Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse on her shoulders, décolletage, and legs, for an amazing glow, amplifying all her golden undertones.  “It’s the perfect partner to complement Tina’s European skin, without leaving it saturated and heavy.

Jennifer Hawkins’ Legendary Tan“I’d say a tan that doesn’t streak, and leaves a beautiful chocolate colour!” says Jbronze Founder Jennifer Hawkins, of her top beauty tip. The most important element of a perfect tan is hy-dration, she says. “If your tan hydrates your skin, it’ll last longer, and you’ll get that ‘healthy glow’ we all crave.”

15

Rashida Jones’ Makeup Canvas“The best canvas for makeup starts with great skincare,” says makeup artist, Kathy Jeung, who worked on actress Rashida Jones for the 2014 Met Gala. “I prepped Rashida’s face with amazing Kiehl’s products to assist in makeup application and provide a long-lasting wear, with a glow and finish that you can only get with good skin preparation!”

17 Naomi Campbell’s Sculpted Brow“My superstar clients, like Naomi Campbell, have the luxury of keeping their brows regularly polished by professionals,” says Australian brow couturist, Amy Jean Linnehan. “When travelling, it’s a good idea to fill in any gaps in the brow line with a brow powder, to make the brow appear full and fluffy at all times. Then set in place with clear brow gel, to avoid fly-aways.”

Lilly Collin’s Full BrowFor the recent BAFTA awards, Lily Collins shone in Lancôme. Lara Srokowski, National Makeup Artist for Lancôme Australia, says recreating her bold brow, and vivid red lip look, is a simple, yet timeless, option. “Comb your brows up, to attain the bold brow look, and choose a shade lighter than your brow colour, to form a shadow behind the brow, creating a natural result,” she suggests. A natural matte glow is best for offsetting a strong brow, and loads of mascara is a must to really pull focus on this area.

18

Brows

Alexa Chung’s Brows & LashesAlexa Chung prioritises brow shape as the base of the best makeup looks. Secondly, it’s lashes, which she always curls pre-mascara, and she always looks directly into the mirror when applying concealer under the eyes, so she can see bags better than when looking upwards.

20 Coco Rocha Nails ItAlison Bowhill, Manicurist for Sally Hansen Professional – of who Coco Rocha is a big fan – prioritises gentle cuticle care for great nails. “Never cut cuticles, just ease the skin back with a cuticle pusher or orange stick, and dab on cuticle remover,” she says.

Nails

21Angelina Jolie’s Neutral NailsFrances Catsaros, YSL Nail Ambassador, worked with busy mum and actress Angelina Jolie during her time in Australia. “If I feel that the nail is weak I will not soak the nail at all. For Angelina, her nails were beautiful nails in very good condition, so I soaked the nails after I filed them,” said Catsaros.

“She prefers neutral, beige or pink tones so we did a sheer-pink on her toes and a sheer nude on her fingernails. She prefers the nice, clean, natural look with one coat. She likes them quite short and I worked with her existing square-oval shape; square on top with slight kicks at the corners, which seems to be the most favoured nail-shape that we do.”

Owner of arguably the most envied skin and style in the industry today, Miranda Kerr puts a lot of hard work (and clean living) into getting her gorgeous on. But special mention must go to Noni Smith, her very good friend – and hugely talented makeup artist! Here we get the exclusive blow-by-beauty-blow account of how to recreate Miranda’s makeup from Noni herself.

Skin: Top Tip: Create a beautiful, hydrated base with skincare, and the makeup will glow all day long.

Noni started with a luxurious, rich face cream, allowing it to sink in fully before applying colour cosmetics. This is a key step to prevent colour coverage and moisturiser melding together, which can result in clumpy, uneven colour. Whatever products you opt for, only use a small amount to give even coverage and allow skin to still shine through says Noni. That way, “it still looks like natural skin,” says Noni, who loves By Terry foundation, 'Cover Expert Perfecting Fluid' on Miranda.

Page 16: INTRODUCTION - RESCUrescu.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/RESCU-Celebrity... · 6Cara Delevigne’s Long Lasting Lip Colour Lloyd Simmonds, Creative Director Makeup YSL, suggests

Cheeks:Top Tip: Use cream based products – from moisturisers through to eye colours, lip tones and, finally, cheek tints. “You don’t need very much, and they go a long way,” Noni says.

“We love the highlight on the top of the cheek bone!” enthuses Noni. “I like to use the St Tropez Skin Illuminator Gold. It’s like a light gold-like skin tone and it stays put,” she

says, noting that it dry but remains moist. “The blush is a MAC crème blush called ‘Posy’ applied with a brush. It goes great with both a pink and red lip and Miranda loves it and suits it.”

Eyes:Top Tip: Don’t rely on just one brow product to get realistic results. Often it takes two strokes of sheer genius to get brows that wow.

“We brush the brows with an eyebrow gel,” says Noni, who favours Benefit for Miranda. “Then I fill them in with the MAC Brow Palette. The MAC Palette has two brown colours I always mix together to find the right shade,” she explains.

Then she uses a brown cream eye shadow just around the eye to keep the look tonal. “It makes her eyes really come out and gives a nice contour to the eye socket,” Noni continues. “We also use the same brown in the cheekbone area to highlight.” Lots of mascara - top and bottom – proves the icing on the cake here and then a touch of MAC Bronze Cream on the eyelid is added to give it “sheen and warmth.”

Lip: Top Tip: Fingertips may be fun sometimes, but for precise and beautiful results, use a brush (and pencil!)

“I use brushes always!” says Noni, adding that she only applies eye colour sometimes around the eye crease with her finger “if I need to blend your crème with the heat of your finger.”

“However I find brushes are better,” she continues. For Miranda’s lips, Noni likes to osculate between pinks and reds, but always keeping them moist and muted. Favourites include a singular, strong red cream lipstick for a big impact, or a Chanel pink to tone down the feel a bit when it’s needed.

Noni also called on the lip pencil “for smaller spots,” as such strong pigmented colours can really appear patchy if not perfectly applied.

HAIR

On a first name basis with Bad Hair Days? Relying too heavily on headbands and bobby pins to manage manic manes? We’ve all been there. But a laissez-faire attitude to hair can actually present itself as just plain laziness. The antidote? A clever cut, extra weekly care, and the odd colour change. There are so many products on the market now that can be used to tame, tease, or tousle hair into submission, that very few coiffe quandries should surface. Prep is also a priority, so put the hard yards in the night before (masks, blow-dries etc.) to ensure the morning is fuss-free.

23 Jessica Gomes Long LayersPaloma Rose Garcia, Sydney-based hair stylist, says that when working with Jessica Gomes, the focus is on the condition of her hair, which cops a beating from all the work-related styling. She explains that because Jess’s hair has to be versatile for her job, she cuts it in very long layers, so that there are more styling options when it comes to various modelling jobs.

Cut

24 Alexa Chung’s BobUber Stylist, Kevin Murphy, says the days of long hair being the only sexy length are long gone, pointing out that shorter, choppier – and heaven forbid – fringed styles, are now some of the most popular styles. “Alexa Chung has this great, no-fuss, glamorous, boy-meets-girl, bob that offers a new sense of freedom,” he says. Kevin advises visiting your salon for a consultation, well before the cut, so you can look at all of the modern, sexy options when going shorter.

Transition like Cate Blanchett“Growing out a shorter hairstyle can be challenging, as it is often hard to style your hair when it is in-between lengths,” says Renya Xydis, stylist and friend of Nicole Kidman, Naomi Watts, and Cate Blanchett.

“For Cate, when transitioning between short and long hair, we focused on creating mass volume,” she explains. Through clever wave creating, the stylist ensured the illusion of longer, thicker hair was the focus, and then added height to any up-style, to soften any sharp silhouettes.

27 Olivia Palermo’s Va-Va-VoomIf you’ve ever suffered hair envy towards the former The City starlet, you’re not alone. Olivia ups the hair anti thanks to a foot lifter. Her hairdresser Andre Davis said, “Styling always begins with mousse or root lifter. To dry, I begin by blowing mega fullness into her hair, directing the blow dryer towards the root, giving it lots of volume.”

StyleChrissy Teigan’s Red Carpet Up ‘DoInternational hair guru, Giannandrea, styled Chrissy Teigen for the 2014 Met Gala, in a glamorous 1960s, Sophia Loren-inspired ‘do, using Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque to penetrate and treat the hair the night before. The day of the event – as if on cue – Chrissy’s hair withstood the styling, to shine through and stay put the entire night.

29 Poppy Delevigne’s Blow WaveCaterina Di Biase, L’Oréal Professionnel Ambassador, worked with Poppy Delevingne recently, and prepped her hair with a round brush blow wave and regular spritzes of texturizing prod-uct to keep it clean and smooth. “Tongs completed the softened effect,” she explains.

30 Boost Your Locks Like GwynethTo bring volume to fine, flat hair, conquer it when it’s wet, suggests Harry Josh, International Creative Consultant for John Frieda, and Gwyneth Paltrow and Christy Turlington’s “mane man”. He uses root boosting spray before blow-drying the hair, beginning at the root area, lifting the hair upright with his fingers and blasting the roots until dry. “Only then blow-dry the ends,” he adds. “You’ll be amazed at how much more root lift you have.”

Shine Under Pressure like Erika HeynatzAussie model, singer, and presenter Erika Heynatz’ busy schedule means her locks are constantly under pressure being styled for work. Sydney stylist, Paloma Rose Garcia, shared, “The Kérastase Densifique in-salon ritual injected body, matter and substance to Erika’s hair, which was lacking shine, lustre and fullness. Maintaining after care with the Kérastase Densifique Densimorphose Mousse Absolue, leaves Erika’s hair bouncy, full and supple to the touch.”

Montana Cox’s Blonde AmbitionMalarie Cox, Melbourne-based colourist, who worked with Montana Cox and Ruby Rose when they were blonde, says investing in a repairing and hydrating treatment – rather than just a colour-locking conditioner – is the most important thing when going blonde. “You also need to be prepared for the texture to change, as when you go blonder, hair can tend to dry, and as the hair doesn’t self-moisturise, you have to put it back in physically.”

31

Sarah Murdoch’s Natural HighlightsBelinda Jeffrey, colourist to several Aussie blondes, including Sarah Murdoch and Delta Goodrem, says taking hair lighter when the weather warms up isn’t always necessary, and it’s important to first determine if a colour will suit you before making the change. “Look at skin tone, eye colour, and natural hair colour, to help make a decision,” suggests the Clairol Nice’n Easy Ambassador.

Sarah Jessica Parker’s Blow-Out Maintenance“It’s the gift that keeps on giving!” gushes Sarah Jessica Parker, speaking about her trusty Serge Normant Dry Shampoo. She says for gals like herself, who have to maintain a blow out for more than a couple of days, it’s a girl’s best friend. “There’s nothing like it, and it smells fantastic.”

Gisele Bundchen’s Frizz FighterHarry Josh, stylist to Gisele Bundchen, Rose Byrne, and Cameron Diaz, and International Creative Consultant for  John Frieda, lauds serum. But only when used correctly. “It’s important to apply to soaking wet hair, to attack the frizz before the hair dries, and the curls start to separate and ‘frizz-up’,” he advises, adding that it should be applied sparingly. “Just one pump for shorter hair, 2-3 pumps for longer,” he notes. “Used in the right way, serum will soak beautifully into the hair and lock out the frizz.”

From natural bristle brushes to dreamy beach waves and a result that is more shaken than severe, Miranda Kerr’s Hairstylist, Reece Walker, talks to RESCU exclusively about the simple secrets of the supermodels sublime hair.

Miranda Kerr has envious ‘everything’, we’ll give her that, but her hair is right up there with her most coveted feature. Her long-time go-to guy when in Australia is Reece Walker, who explains that, the key to hair this buoyant and beautiful is a ‘less is more’ approach.

“Miranda likes to keep her hair quite natural with not a lot product,” he explains. “She likes to throw it around a bit, but with a little bit of body as well,” he says.

35Get The Look: Miranda Kerr’sHair

Page 26: INTRODUCTION - RESCUrescu.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/RESCU-Celebrity... · 6Cara Delevigne’s Long Lasting Lip Colour Lloyd Simmonds, Creative Director Makeup YSL, suggests

The Body: Reece usually starts with ‘Sebastian Mouse Forte’. “It doesn’t feel sticky once the hair is dry. I blow-dry her hair with quite a few brown brushes that I leave in to set. Almost like a hot roller set,” he says.

Sound simple? The complexities start later, laughs Reece. “I like to shake it out. Miranda likes to brush it all. I’m almost smacking her hand away! I win most of the time...but when I’m not looking she wins!”

The Side-Part:One of Miranda’s signature styles is the side-part. Reece notes that Miranda’s hair falls naturally to the side, so she has learnt to work with it. “It stays there by itself with little bit of ‘Sebastian Shaper Fierce’ hairspray as we like to keep that nice bounce,” he explains.

The Up ‘Do:Miranda is always keen to try new things with her hair, Reece explains. Sometimes virginal, sometimes vixen! For the latter, the duo mixes up the ponytails with a sexy and messy vibe. “Not too polished,” says Reece, noting that he always keeps it nice and high at the front, “and she likes the sides tight.”

The Dream Do:The secret to Miranda’s great hair is that she knows what works for her, says Reece. And as a general rule, it’s big, bouncy, buoyance when on the world stage. But if he could have his way completely? “I would probably like to really tong it up a little bit for a sexy beach wave. A little like Victoria’s Secret, but sexier! A little bit rock-chick chic,” he muses. But whatever he was to throw at her, he is confident Miranda’s tresses could carry it off, as they are so well cared for. “She gets her hair cut quite regularly,” he adds. “A very beautiful, classic cut. Her hair is in an amazing condition-It’s perfect. You wouldn’t think its models hair!”

SKIN

Healthy skin is of paramount importance to nail any desired beauty look. No machination of makeup can do diddlysquat if skin is not in tiptop shape. Obviously, SPF is a deal breaker during any decade, and early prevention and correction is key. Think an eye cream by 20 years old, an active ingredient by 30 years old, and maybe a laser treatment by 40. Oh, and visible wear and tear can be dramatically reduced by following a clean, chemical-free diet too. Through these lifestyle and skincare tweaks, skin luminosity and clarity can actually get better with age, and therefore, any makeup routine will become far more manageable.

Christina Hendricks’ Dewy ComplexionMad Men’s alabaster-complexioned beauty, Christina Hendricks, is a well-documented fan of the Rosewater Hydrating Mist from Aussie brand Kosmea, which she says provides a “lovely refreshing pick-me-up in the middle of the day.” Founder of the brand, Marie Jenkins, recommends that to really get a super surge of hydration, you should use the mist prior to applying Kosmea Rose Hip Oil. “Using Rose Hip Oil on a damp surface allows for a deeper penetration into the skin, and therefore less is needed,” she says.

Delta Goodrem’s Summer ShimmerMakeup artist Noni Smith says, “Delta can never get enough of shimmer and we have lots of fun with it. Delta actually taught me that by adding luminiser to the bridge of the nose, you can achieve an even better look. Be aware however, as a golden look can make teeth appear yellowed. Make sure you keep your teeth as fresh and white as possible by using a teeth whitening range - a quick fix for that last minute beach party or barbecue.” Delta swears by Oral B’s 3D Whitening Strips.

And the same goes for salt; it can make the eyes puffy!” she warns. She loves getting re-sculpturing facials, and eating a good breakfast on the morning of the red carpet rollout. “The ceremonies are often very long, and it can be a long wait before you find any food!” she laughs.

“After I mix the product together in my hand and apply over my face, I make sure to put it also on my neck and décolleté.  The serum isn’t greasy, so you can use it morning and night.  I love the smell in particular – it’s so fresh!

49 Christy Turlington’s Botox Ban“I’m not afraid of ageing,” Christy Turlington has said, adding that she would never consider Botox. Her approach is much more holistic. “Yoga is the absolute best set of tools I can r ecommend to help one feel and look one’s absolute best at any age,” she says. “I sincerely feel that beauty largely comes from within. When you are balanced, and when you listen and attend to the needs of your body, mind, and spirit, your natural  beauty comes out.”

50 Rosie Huntington Whiteley’s Desert Island EssentialsThe English beauty and ModelCo ambassador known for her radiant complexion says, “I’m all about simplicity. Even on the go and when I’m travelling all the time, and I don’t want to take a lot of products with me. The first most important thing is that I’ve got minimal products and they’re easy to use. If I could only use three beauty products for the rest of my life it would be wa-ter, BB cream and an SPF.”

If your current beauty routine is leaving you wanting more, but you’re not quite ready to take the most extreme measures, take a leaf out of the beauty book of red carpet regulars.

These are the latest Hollywood blockbusters; and no we’re not talking this summer’s biggest films.

Fraxel®, Thermage® and Liposonix® are the step up in taking your relationship with beauty to the next level, but won’t have you taking that month-long “holiday”.

Here’s what you need to know about beauty’s latest celebrity blockbusters:

Celebrities Get Serious

Three Words: Jennifer. Aniston. Abdominals.

Got your attention now? Well now there is a treatment that can mimic the lifetime of dedication Ms Aniston has put into her abdominal area, removing fat, with no surgery, little downtime and only an hour eaten out of your iCal.

The Dream Treatment

Liposonix® answers the prayers of women everywhere who may have been a little lax with their healthy living over winter, and are now wearing a little extra cushioning around the tummy to show for it. Using advanced ultrasound technology, this non-surgical fat reduction procedure, enables the elimination of targeted unwanted abdominal fat forever.

The latest Hollywood favourite for dropping a dress size in 8-12 weeks, Liposonix works via High Intensity Frequency Ultrasound (HIFU), which is delivered below the surface of the skin, heating it and permanently destroying targeted stubborn fat cells. The treated fat tissue is then removed naturally through the body’s own healing process, and there is no visible damage done to the surface of the skin where HIFU is administered.

During the treatment, there is a slight feeling of cold or warmth, prickling and tingling evident, and afterwards, some patients may experience bruising, swelling, redness and discomfort, but in general terms, these are mild and patients are typically expected to step back into the swing of normal life immediately.

Page 39: INTRODUCTION - RESCUrescu.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/RESCU-Celebrity... · 6Cara Delevigne’s Long Lasting Lip Colour Lloyd Simmonds, Creative Director Makeup YSL, suggests

Also beneficial for the thighs, each section of the body is treated separately, taking around 30-45 minutes each. The way in which the treatment works means that if you do gain weight again, it can no longer head to the treated area as fat cells cannot regrow there, so it will be distributed to other areas. Therefore, it goes without saying that this is not so much a band aid fix, but a re-boost to reaching your personal goals to rid yourself of that extra nagging inch that won’t budge no matter how healthy your diet or regular your exercise.

Of course, individual results vary depending on the amount of weight around the midsection, but as a general rule, approximately 2.5 cm – or one dress size in wardrobe terms - can be dropped within 8-12 weeks of every treatment, making it the red carpet prep for many a starlet.

For a society still smarting from the many liposuction and surgical fat reduction procedure horror stories, Liposonix provides a simple option for those who want a little less jiggle in their wiggle. Developed with over 10 years research and testing by leading scientists and ultrasound experts, it comes with much confidence in the procedure, and results and comfort afterwards.

Be sure to only visit a plastic surgery or cosmetic clinic well educated in Liposonix, and one you have researched heavily and reviewed at length. The practitioner will then advise whether this treatment is suitable for you. Cost for Liposonix treatments depend on the area and actual size of abdomen or thighs to be treated, so prices start around $2500 to $3000 per treatment.

Liposonix is available from selected Cosmetic Surgeons, Dermatologist and Plastic Surgery Centres. Consult your practitioner to see if Liposonix is suitable for you.

The emotion-friendly

facial treatment

Fraxel® is a genius treatment that doesn’t freeze the face. And in a world of cosmetic procedures that strip away years of smiles and hours of endless happiness, this is a revelation.

Counteractively, Fraxel holds onto the lightest hint of life’s ups and downs, whilst still rejuvenating, invigorating and renewing the appearance of the skin that can do without that pesky pigmentation and long-forged furrows.

With fans such as funny girls Courteney Cox of Friends fame, and Julia Bowen from Modern Family, it’s no wonder Fraxel has become the go-to treatment for keeping laugh lines but ditching the dark spots, pigmentation and wrinkles.

Fraxel is not about chasing youth; it’s about bringing your own beauty back. A non-invasive, state-of-the-art fractional laser that delivers immediate, progressive and predictable results, Fraxel was the first fractional resurfacing laser available to consumers in the in-clinic market.

How Fraxel Works: By creating thousands of microscopic treatment areas across the complexion, which fires off the body’s inner signal to naturally heal itself. This response mechanism enhances cellular turnover so that fatigued cells are replaced with new, fresh glowingly healthy skin. This is key to ensuring you recapture the vibrancy of a younger you.

Beneficial beyond the face – Courteney Cox is a fan of the procedure on her décolletage and arms – the Fraxel Dual works on a system of two lasers combined into the one device. Evidently, Fraxel Dual is a groundbreaking treatment due to its ability to renew the surface, whilst reducing discomfort and the need for lengthy downtime in the process.

This is revolutionary simply due to the lasers ability to precisely penetrate the skin down to the dermis without disrupting the skins outer protective barrier.

Fraxel 1550 Laser is a non-ablative erbium glass laser, to target deeper wrinkles. The Fraxel 1927 Laser targets the more superficial skin conditions that require resurfacing.

Levels of redness or swelling differ from patient to patient, but over the course of one to several days, this will shift into a bronzed appearance as the skin repairs itself and begins to exfoliate off naturally. Much like sunburn, the sloughing process is best left to its own devices, so a few days of patience for the full effect to appear is paramount.

Fraxel RE:PAIR SST: If your skin concerns lie a little deeper – resulting in harsh furrows, textural imperfections, pigmented lesions and a loss of firmness on the surface, this is the Fraxel choice you may favour. Using proven technology, there is less downtime than traditional ablative lasers and results are a revelation – with years of damage removed from a patients face in this time-effective and convenient alternative to surgical procedures

Fraxel RE:PAIR has a much faster recovery time than traditional ablative fractional procedures. However, recovery is an individual experience and can vary with some patients returning to daily – daylight – activities within 7 days, and others taking a little longer depending on the patient and the level of treatment during the procedure.

Keen to get your Fraxel on? Visit your dermatologist, cosmetic surgeon or plastic surgery centre for a consultation with a practitioner about whether Fraxel is appropriate for you. The cost will vary depending on the area treated and the administrator, but a safe guide is anywhere ranging from $1200 - $1500.

Fraxel is available from selected Cosmetic Surgeons, Dermatologist and Plastic Surgery Centres. Consult your practitioner to see if Fraxel is suitable for you.

A Personal Trainer For Your Complexion

When we look our fittest, we look our firmest. And the skin is no exception. A tight, contoured complexion is the want of many a woman, and Thermage®, the choice of celebs like Gwyneth Paltrow, delivers just that.

Designed to cater specifically for the visible signs of ageing, such as loss of firmness and contour- particularly around the jawline, neck, under the eyes and beside the mouth – Thermage is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that has been clinically proven to help smooth, tighten and contour skin for an overall younger looking appearance.

But it’s not only the face that has all the fun. Thermage is also appropriate for delivering results on the stomach, thighs and arms also, in a single bespoke approach that negates the need for surgery, injections or prolonged recovery time.

So how does it work? Well, Thermage is based on radio frequency (RF) energy that kick-starts the body’s natural cell renewal process. A defibrilla-tor for the dermis, of sorts, it combines heat energy to treat deep tissue and a cooling effect to protect the surface and offer optimal patient comfort.

With over a decade of technological research and refinement to support

its efficacy, Thermage heralds an end to the era of facelifts and surgical procedures to tighten and tone. Offering incremental improvement to the ageing areas, by deeply stimulating new natural collagen growth and boost-ing existing collagen, some immediate results of Thermage are visible, but continue to improve for up to six months, and last for years, while optimal results are achieved from yearly follow-ups.

Leaving nothing to chance, consultations prior to treatment are key for the practitioner to determine whether the patient is suitable to receive treatment, the areas that need attention and the desired results. In a grid frame, areas of the face or body are evenly marked out before the application of the special treatment tip. The sensation is warm and there is some discomfort, but pain is not predicted. However, as everyone’s threshold differs, some practitioners suggest general painkillers before the procedure. Either way, treatment levels can be turned down to suit the desired level of sensation.

The procedure takes between 45 to 90 minutes – including pre-consultation photography for review in coming months – and prices vary from $1500 - $3000 depending on the area treated and the individual clinic performing the treatment.

Side effects are rare – but potential. These include swelling and blistering, but the event of these aversions are minimal in a worldwide procedure that has been carried out 1 million times successfully since 2002, with approximately 2,500 dermatologists, plastic surgeons and other cosmetic physicians using Thermage for superior skin tightening and toning results worldwide.

Thermage is available from selected Cosmetic Surgeons, Dermatologist and Plastic Surgery Centres. Consult your practitioner to see if Thermage is suitable for you.
