Seismic Refraction Analysis withSeisImager/2D

• PickWin95 (Picking first arrival)• PlotRefa(Seismic refraction analysis)<<Introduction>>SeisImager/2D is the two-dimensional seismic refraction analysis software. It consits of two-software, named “PickWin95” and “PlotRefa”. “PickWin95” is a software for picking first arrival. “Plotrefa” is a software for seismic refraction analysis. Following analysis approach can be used in the “PlotRefa”.1:Time-term methodIf the velocity model is a simple horizontal two-layer model, you can use the “time-term method”. The time-term method is a simple linear least square method for two-layer velocity model2:Reciprocal method (Hagiwara’s method)If the number of layers is larger than three, you can use “reciprocal method”. Sometimes, it is called GRM, or Hagiwara’s method.3:Tomographic analysisThe tomographic analysis can image velocity model almost automatically. It can handle surface data as well as the data obtained from sources and receivers in boreholes or tunnels.

Seismic refraction analysis : PlotRefa •Maximum data : source 200 *receiver 1000 * layer 50

•Traveltime checking : traveltime correction with a mouse, traveltime difference curve, automatic correction for reciprocal traveltime.

•Time-term method : linear least square method fortwo-layer velocity model.

•Reciprocal method : layer assignment,reduced traveltime curves,

delay time calculation, delay time view, generating velocity model.

•Raytracing : based on Huygens’ principle, comparison of observed and calculated data, raypaths view.

•Automatic correction for layered model : non-linear least square method, correction for layerthickness, correction for layer velocity.

•Tomographic nalysis : generating initial model, inversion based on non-linear least square method, conversion into layerd model.

•etc. : analysis with borehole and tunnel data, modeling (model generation, raytracing).
