Baby Luigi has been kidnapped, andit's up to the Yoshi clan to gothrough each course and get himback, all while taking care of BabyMario! Gobble up enemies and tosseggs to save the day (and BabyLuigi)!
4 Getting Started
Navigate the menu using thefollowing controls:

If you're launching this game for thefirst time, you'll be asked whetheryou want to activate SpotPass(p. 16). Any time after that, you'llstart at the file menu.

5 Saving Data
● Do not turn the power off,reset the system or removeGame Cards/SD Cards whilesaving. Make sure not to getdirt in the terminals. Theseactions could result inpermanent data loss.
● Do not use externalaccessories or software tomodify your save data, as thiscan lead to an inability toprogress or loss of save data.Any modification ispermanent, so be careful.
Select ERASE in the file menu toclear data from a file.
Erasing a File
♦ Erased data cannot be recoveredso be sure to double check thatyou actually want to erase it.
Select COPY in the file menu tocopy data from one file to another.
Copying a File
Your game progress will beautomatically saved to your fileeach time you clear a course.

Ground Pound
Press in mid-air toattack enemies or poundposts into the ground.
Stand in front of adoorway and press toenter.
7 Egg Controls
Hasty
❶ Press and hold / todisplay theaiming cursor( ).
❷ will move upand down. Lineit up with yourtarget, then letgo of the buttonto toss an egg.
Toss eggs at enemies and otherobjects. You can switch youregg-toss style between Hasty,Patient or Gyro.
Tossing an Egg
♦ You can carry up to six eggs.♦ Not all enemies can be turned
into eggs.

After gobbling an enemy,press to make an egg(p. 13).
Gyro
❶ Press / todisplay theaiming cursor( ).
❷ Line up with your target bytilting the Nintendo 3DS system.
❸ Press / once more to tossan egg.
Patient
❶ Press / to make appear.❷ Line up the moving with your
target, then press / again to toss an egg.

• Press and hold to aim directly upwards.
• Press / to stop frommoving.
• Press / to cancel an eggtoss.
When using this software, youmay have to move theNintendo 3DS system around.Make sure you have enoughroom before playing, and holdthe system firmly with bothhands. Do not move the systemwith excessive force, as thiscould lead to injuries, damageto the product or damage tonearby objects.

You will encounter bosses incourses four and eight of eachworld. Beat the boss in course eightto progress to the next world.

9 Playing the Game
Baby Mario will get swept away byKamek's goons, and you'll lose alife.
If the counter reacheszero...
Once Baby Mario is on Yoshi'sback again, your star power willslowly recover up to ten.
Star Power
When you gethit by anenemy, BabyMario will falloff Yoshi'sback and yourstar power ( ) will startdecreasing. Hurry and grab BabyMario before the counter reacheszero!
The objectiveis to headthrough eachcourse,defeatingenemies anddodging traps as you go. Onceyou've cleared a course, you'll thenbe able to proceed to the next one.
Jump through the GoalRing to finish a course.You will earn medals ifthe roulette stops on asmiley flower ( ).
♦ There is one on the Goal Ringfor every smiley flower you foundin that course.
♦ You will get a medal for everysmiley flower you found.
Clearing Courses
Once you pass throughthis ring, you'll be able torestart the course fromhere if you lose a life.Your star power will also increaseby ten.
♦ Your progress will be lost if youleave to play another course, orif you get a Game Over.

Collect 30 of theseegg-shaped medals ineach world and whoknows what willhappen...
When you lose all your lives, it'sGame Over! If that happens, you'llstart from the beginning of thecourse with five lives.

Pause Menu
Touch PAUSEwhile on thecourse screen todisplay the pausemenu. Here youcan return to themap screen, or configure settings inthe options menu.
Looking Up or Down
In certain areas, you can movethe view up with / ordown with / and seeplaces you couldn't see before.
11 Items
Smiley Flowers
There are five of thesehidden in each course.
Stars
These increase your starpower by one, to a maximumof 30.
Red Coins
20 of these are scatteredthrough each course. Theyare also counted towardsyour normal coin count.
Coins
Collect 100 of these to gainan extra life.
Red Yoshi Stars
Pick up one of theseto make you zoomalong like a comet!Use to adjustyour position.
Yoshi Stars
Grab one of these totransform into the invincibleSuper Yoshi! Hold down to dash and make Super Yoshi runup walls and across ceilings!
Watermelons
Eat one of these and press to spit the seeds out asan attack. You can also findspecial kinds of watermelon - firewatermelons that let Yoshi breathefire, and ice watermelons that letYoshi breathe ice!
Flutter Wings
If you lose a life severaltimes in the same course,Mr. Pipe will lend you thesespecial wings. Hold down tocontinuously flutter-jump!
Mr. Pipe
This mysteriouscharacter will appear atcertain times in thegame to help you outwith an item or two.
12 Switches and Things
Arrow Clouds
Hit one of these with an eggand the egg will fly off in thedirection the arrow ispointing.
Keys and Doors
You can open locked doorsif you have a key.

Jump on these to cause avariety of effects.
Egg Blocks
Hit one of these from belowto make an egg pop out.
Winged Clouds
If you can hit one of thesewith eggs or enemies, allkinds of things can happen!
Binoculars
Pick up these to look aroundYoshi's immediatesurroundings for a shorttime. Move the Nintendo 3DSsystem or slide to look aroundthe area.
13 Eggs
You can get items by hittingenemies with eggs - differentcoloured eggs produce differentitems.
Eggs and Items
♦ Red eggs don't bounce. If onehits a wall, pipe or otherobstacle, it will be lost.
Normal Eggs
As an egg bounces off walls,pipes or other obstacles, itwill turn from green toyellow and then to red.
Tossing eggs around can be usefulfor defeating enemies and affectingobjects in the world. There are eventwo special types of egg: MegaEggdozers and Metal Eggdozers.
Produces a coin.
Produces two stars.
♦ These only appear incertain courses.
Produces a red coin.
Produces three coins.
Metal Eggdozers
There are differentways to get these,one of which is bygobbling a Metal Guy.Toss one and it'll rollalong the ground,smashing rocks, squashing enemiesand shaking things up!
Mega Eggdozer Gauge
Fill this gauge bysmashing pipes and otherscenery and you'll get a1-Up for each bar filled.
Mega Eggdozers
One way to get one ofthese is by gobbling aMega Guy. Toss it tosquash enemies,smash pipes andcause chaos!
♦ A Mega Eggdozer will replace allof your normal eggs.
♦ You won't be able to get throughnarrow areas while you'recarrying a Mega Eggdozer.
When carrying a MetalEggdozer...
Metal Eggdozers are heavy andwill weigh down your jumps. Onthe other hand, they will let youwalk around while underwater.Tossing the egg will let you floatto the surface again.
14 Transformations
Mine Cart Yoshi
Yoshi rides along as amine cart. Press anybutton to jump.
Transformations
Pick up a Time Booster tostay transformed forlonger.
♦ Control Yoshi while he'stransformed by tilting theNintendo 3DS system.
♦ Touch PAUSE to see the controlsfor the transformation.
Head through a WhirlyGate and Yoshi willundergo a transformationfor a short time. Try toget to the exit before thetransformation wears off!

Sharing the Software
The player who owns a copy of thesoftware on their system shouldselect SHARE, then select the otherplayer's name when it appears.
♦ You may need to perform asystem update. Follow theon-screen instructions to beginthe update.
If you receive a message duringthe system update that theconnection was unsuccessful,carry out the system update fromthe System Settings application.
