A ball screw is a mechanical linear actuator that translates rotational motion tolinear motion with little friction. A threaded shaft provides a helical raceway for ball

bearings which act as a precision screw, as well as being able to apply or withstand

high thrust loads, they can do so with minimum internal friction.

devices involved in positioning.

Each servo motor works off of modulation known as Pulse CodedModulation, or PCM. The motor has a control wire that is given a

pulse application for a certain length of time.

The angular degree of the shaft is determined by the length of thepulses, which the servo motor anticipates every couple seconds.

A normal servo is mechanically not capable of rotating further due

to a mechanical stop built into the main output gear.

The amount of power applied to the motor is proportional to the

distance it needs to travel, referred to as Proportional Control.
