It’s called New Fable, which is anthropomorphic adventure for older young adults. It’s characterised by having no human characters, and is instead populated by cats and dogs who act like people. This allows bizarre behaviours, absurd situations and opportunities for innovative story-telling.

Firstly, what is this new style of fiction?

Page 4: Introducing Dooven Muzak

It is, and I’ve been over this already in

other seminars. I’m not going over

it again now. See the presentation on New Fable.

But that’s not new—

Page 5: Introducing Dooven Muzak

Vintage, retro feel, crackle, pop and warble.Influenced by 60s orchestral elements from film

scores by composers such as Mancini, Morroconi and Montenegro.

Influenced by pop elements from the same era by composers such as Alan Hawkshaw, Enoch Light and Walter Wanderly.

Influenced by 70s Elevator Music (Muzak).Incorporates elements of modern Electropop with

JCMP.Includes orchestral sections; strings, woodwind and

brassCommon instruments are Rhodes, harpsicord,

Mellotron flute and vibraphone. It’s instrumental, and sometimes has a disco feel.

What characterizes Dooven Muzak?

Page 6: Introducing Dooven Muzak

It’s the only example of poly-authorism using music (see the presentation on New Fable).

It comprises 50 tracks exclusively written to complement an existing series of books.

It’s been licensed by ZMusic as background music for corporate venues under the Ribbons Media label.

It’s intentionally mastered in low fidelity to contrast with modern tendencies to perfectly engineer music.

It’s a unique blend of Retroelectro and instrumental.

Its structure rarely follows musical standards.

What makes Dooven Muzak unique?

Page 7: Introducing Dooven Muzak

Wait, what’s poly-authorism?Refers to authors engaging readers with additionally created complementary media , rather than relying on books alone. It’s a response to the assimilation of media in the digital age, where ebooks, video, music and artwork become blended into new forms; EPUP3 format, for example.Broad array of entertainment formats leaves readers keen for a more engaging reading experience.Print on its own borders on redundant; authors need to engage readers via multiple means.Books remain at the core, but are orbited by additional mediums.

Dooven Muzak is the original music to

accompany the Velvet Paw of Asquith

Novels.

What’s the difference between Dooven Muzak and Fable Pop?

Fable Pop is an evolution of Dooven Muzak, which adds recited narrative from the books.

“Asquith Morning Traffic”

A track depicting Asquith’s vibrancy in the morning. Oscar lives in an apartment near the inner cove and can hear it from his bedroom. He rather likes its chaos, providing it doesn’t run

him over.

Can we hear some Dooven Muzak?“In The Library”

A track depicting Oscar’s search through the Great

Library of Liebe in the hope of discovering clues to defeating the most dangerous poets in the world, who want to take it

over (the world, not the library).
