Standard Features on the

Sto-away Power Cranes ®

NEW COATING PROCESS APPLIED

To make the bumper cranes more corrosive resistant Sto-Away

Power Cranes ® announces that they have begun applying an

ELECTRO-COAT to their bumper cranes. This process consists of

an 8 stage pretreatment which includes a full immersion in zinc

phosphate and sealer and provides excellent edge coverage. This

process is Dexter Chassis Group’s TTC 490 which has been certified

by TACOM (U.S. Army Tank and ARMAMENTS COMMAND) This

process also consists of an epoxy coating which provides 1,500 +

hours of salt and spray protection without the use of heavy metals. It

provides a more complete corrosion protection.

RECEIVER HITCH

SR2A, SR3, SR4 Series

Class 2 Receiver Hitch shall be built in the

bumper 3,500 lb. Pull / 500 lb. tongue weight.

SR2B-C, SR 5 - SR6, CSR 515-520, CSR 615-620 Series

Class 3 Receiver Hitch; 5000 lb. pull /

1000 lb. tongue weight shall be built-in.

SR7 - SR8, CSR725 Series

Bumper Cranes.

This option is a nitrogen cylinder assist that is

placed on the boom, and the bumper to allow the

crane to softly glide down in to the bumper,

instead of slamming down. It also makes the

crane and the boom easier to lift.

Brackets to up fit to the truck, wiring harness, all mounting

hardware, owners manual with install, operation, safety, parts, &

maintenance instructions.

Grease ports throughout all of the bearings and pulleys so

that the owner is able to grease their crane without actually

having to take the crane apart.

We have a twin inner core that keeps our cable from jumping off of

the pulley at the top of our boom.

We also use 3m reflective logos so they are visible at night time.

Water Tight Control Plug and Dust Cap

All Sto-away® Bumper Cranes come standard with the

weather tight non corrosive control plug with indicator light

showing “Power Up “unit. Weather resistance ON /OFF

toggle switch so you can Turn Off the power to the cranes

controls. Adding another level of Security and Safety. With

the water tight “O” ring sealed dust cover, the plug socket is

not exposed to the elements.

additional reach or working height.

SR5 & SR6 Series: This option shall

extend the standard 48" reach to a 69"

reach from the truck.

SR7 & SR8 Series: This option shall

extend the standard 52" reach to a 76"

reach from the truck.

CAM LOCK OUTRIGGER LEG

(OPTIONAL LEG FOR EXTRA STABILITY)

This feature supersedes the standard

outrigger leg and extends to a maximum of

12" from the corner of the bumper. Extend

vertically a maximum of 24" from the bottom

of the crane, and can be set or released with

a single cam over center handle (similar to a

commercial chain binder).

Confined Space / Man Lift Rescue

Optional CSR (series) A Packages:

CSR 215, 220,315,515, 520, 615, 620 & 725 A : will

consist of a 350 LB. Load limiter, that is placed on

the end of the boom, designed to stop the electrical

winch drive automatically when there is an excess of

350 LB. of weight \ pull on the power winches lifting line, a

manual cranking system that is attached to the electrical system

with fall protection built in, required so that if you loose power

you are still able to crank the person out of the manhole, a lock out

tag out steering wheel cover to be placed on the trucks steering

wheel with the words: DANGER DO NOT MOVE THIS VEHICLE

BEING USED IN CONFINED SPACE ENTRY, THIS COVER

MAY ONLY BE REMOVED BY AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL., An

Emergency override hand control is provided for emergency

situations when someone is down and you have to do a two

person rescue, and it also comes with a BLGL winch a positive

cable attachment so that if or when you get to the last wrap of the

cable it will do a reverse wrap and will not come off the drum. On a

standard winch you are only lifting from the ground up so it has 4 –

5 wraps of cable on the drum. To comply to OSHA and ANSI

standards you must have everything that is listed in the A

package along with the standard features.

This package is only the mast and the boom prepared to accept the confined space pkg. at a

later date. (If not ordered when ordering crane you will have to ship back the crane and

mast and possibly the winch to be able to add this later.)

Some cities order this when they do not have enough in their budget for the entire confined

space pkg. And they know they will want to add it later.

NOTE: The following options must be ordered in order for this package to be complete:

B.L.G.L. winch:

This option is needed for doing ANY below ground lifting. We prepare the winch to have a positive cable

attachment, if you were to get to the last wrap of cable it would do a reverse wrap and will not come off the

drum. On the standard winch the cable is only on there with a set screw which is fine for lifting from the

ground up, because you always have 4-5 wraps of cable left on the drum. This is a safety feature that will

keep you from losing your expensive equipment off of the end of the cable if you were to get to the last wrap

of the cable

Posi-Lock Mast:

This option will enable the operator to lock the crane into place every 22 ½ degrees throughout its rotation

and stay locked in position until the lever is shifted and the operator has taken control of the load

Sto-away’s CSR Units are OSHA compliant!

OSHA certifies NOTHING.

They are a regulatory branch of the federal government. OSHA sets the minimum

standards that must be meant for occupational health and safety in work places

within the United States. OSHA can and will fine a company and may shut down the

company if they do not meet these standards.

Since OSHA doesn’t certify equipment; NO One can say that they are OSHA

certified.

What they can say is that their equipment and /or procedures is OSHA compliant,

and state what regulation standards they meet.

OSHA clearly states that NO CRANE can be used to lift personnel, it doesn’t matter

if it is powered or a manual hand crank, Period. Cranes have no safe guards for

protecting the worker from being pulled apart. Without a load limiting system on the

hoist you can’t use it. It only makes sense; a crane is designed to lift to its maximum

capacity and nothing less.

How does the Sto-Away ® address this OSHA standard?

There are manual hand powered retrieval systems in use today that use a slip

clutch or special gear reductions and or both to control the maximum lifting force

that is placed on the worker. This is how these manufactures comply with the

OSHA standards.

The current Tripod systems are a good example of this.

Sto-Away’s Confined space package complies with the OSHA standards by

developing a special load cell system that pins to the Sto-Away’s davit* arm’s

tip and can measure the amount of lifting force the hoist is exerting at the hook.

Thus achieving the same end results as a slip clutch or special gear reductions

of the tripods.

At 350 lbs. or less the load cell shuts down the upward movement of the hoist

thus protecting the worker.

The best way to protect yourself and your employees is with knowledge. I

strongly recommend that you visit OSHA.org and your own state’s OSHA site

for more information.

POSITIVE CABLE ATTACHMENT: We design our Below Level Ground Lifting winches to meet our

safety needs. Meaning when you get to the end of the cable on the drum, the cable will then just

reverse wrap.

Therefore you will NEVER lose the cable off of the end of the drum on Our B.L.G.L. winch drives.

MAN-SAVER & FALL PROTECTOR: Our system is designed with the safety of your personnel in

mind. It is a DOUBLE LINE SYSTEM, meaning 2 LIFELINES. One of them being an electrical

winching system, and the other a manual hand cranking system so if the power fails, you have a

BACKUP manual system to rely upon. Our system is also equipped with a fall protection device that

only allows the personnel to fall 2 (two) feet or less.

350 LB. LOADLIMITER: The LOADLIMTER is designed to stop the electrical winch drive

automatically when there is an excess of 350 LB.* of weight \ pull on the power winch’s lifting line.

When specifying any bumper crane for Confined Space work, that needs to conform to OSHA &

ANSI standards, the following would need to be ordered:

Any MODEL Sto-Away Power Crane ® with at least a 1,500lb. Lifting capacity, B.L.G.L. winch,

Posi-lock mast, W.R. kit, Cam Lock outrigger leg, and Confined space Package A (350 LB.*

LOADLIMTER, Man Saver with built-in fall protection, and needed hardware) or Package B could be

ordered only if you have a factory approved SRL lifeline. See factory for details on package B
