    You can also take old credit cards and gift cards and cut them into shape. Just make sure to round the corners. I have a friend that swears by this.

  • Shuttles

    Yarn Selection

    Cotton Linen Silk

    Wool

    Acrylics are harder to work with and stretch when put under tension. They are not recommended for weaving.

  • S and Z threading

    It refers to the shape that the yarn makes when threaded through the tablets. There is no standard for how it is indicated on patterns. Make sure to check the pattern instructions to see if they explain how they indicate it.

    Terms to knowWarp- the threads that go around the loom

    Weft- the thread that goes between the warp threads

    Shed- the space between the warp threads where the shuttle passes through

    Shuttle- used to pass the weft thread through the shed

    Pick- one quarter turn of the cards

    Reverse- changing the direction that the cards turn

    This will be shown in the class. It's easier to watch someone do it.

  • Let's start weaving!

    Step 1) Insert flat stick into the shed.Step 2) Turn cards one pick.Step 3) Beat the shed down with your shuttle.Step 4) Pass shuttle through shed, leaving weft thread behind.Step 5) Repeat steps 2 through 4 until finished.Step 6) Cut the weft thread a few inches past the last pick.Step 7) Using the yarn darner/chenille needle, pass the tail of the weft thread back through the finished work.Step 8) Cut off of the loom and finish ends as desired.
