Air Power
We have talked about air and how it is all around us. Now, we will start to talk about the power of air!
Let’s watch The Three Little Pigs. This story has been around for a long
time. It certainly is a made up (or fictional) story but it
illustrates the power ofour air!

The wolf used the power of his air to blow the little
pigs’ houses down.
Now you blow on your hand and see how it feels!
Now, I want you try something different and roll up a piece of paper and blow through it.
Does your air feel different?
When you blow through a rolled piece of paper or a straw, your breath is forced into a narrow space. It makes the air move more quickly. This gives your breath STRENGTH. It becomes powerful enough to move objects across the floor!
Let’s try some experiments using our rolled up paper like a straw!
WOW!
Maybe the Big Bad Wolf should have tried to blow the houses down with a straw! He would have saved himself some energy!
Homework:
In your NATURE NOTEBOOK,record all of the ways that you
see the power of air around you!
See you next time Scientists!
