Why Creative Commons?Deficiencies in copyright law/treaties:

Copyright is a restriction with a certain aim

Copyright is often way more than what we want

e.g.

Copyright is automatic even when not wanted

Copyright covers all uses except fair uses

Copyright can last 100 years or more
