Relatives, neighbours or friends that care for the person.
They may receive a ‘Carer’s allowance’ from the government but they usually do this task out of concern for their loved one.
They are a valuable community resource because they reduce the costs for the state and they know the patient best

Some parents may job share or take it in turns to look after each others children
