Crystal structure: Bravais Lattice, Reciprocal Lattice, x-ray diffraction
Band structure: Free electron model, electros in a periodic potential (Bloch’s Theorem), Tight binding model
Behaviour of electrons in a Band: density of states, Fermi surface, concept of holes, effective mass
Lattice vibrations: Lattice vibrations in 1D and 3D, phonons, internal energy and specific heat of lattice,
electron-phonon interaction
Magnetism: diamagnetism, paramagnetism, pauli paramagnetism, exchange interaction, ferro-magnetism
