Turmeric recovers on short covering

Pepper continues downtrend on short selling

Jeera declines on subdued export demand

Soy oil rises on demand; soybean, rapeseed flat

India rupee rises on strong euro

Guar steadies before correction

Chana adds losses

Cardamom tumbles on profit booking

Lower stocks of turmeric till the fresh arrivals expected in the month of February will

keep the prices firm in the near month contract. Prices will also take cues from the

demand from the overseas and domestic buyers. Short term trend of Jeera would

depend on the sowing prospects depending on the weather in growing areas, also

demand from US and European countries likely to shift more towards India in coming

weeks due to low stocks in the International markets. Fundamentals are very strong and

are likely to push Pepper further upside. Mustard seed production may increase this

year but a lot will depend upon the near term weather. At international levels, stocks are

also expected to decline mainly in European Union. The long-term fundamentals of

Cardamom are very strong and are likely to support firm trend in long term. Guar prices

are also discouraged by strong production estimates in the current year.
