SHOWCASE CONCERT 2020
INTO THE
LIGHT
WELCOMEThis annual concert has a history of demonstrating the breadth and depth of performing arts talent at SACS across both our Junior School and Secondary School. This year will be no different, with professional filming of ensemble performances taking place over two days and two nights in the newly renovated Chapter House. The performances will take you on a musical journey, exploring different sounds, styles and musical ideas.
The theme of Into the Light acknowledges the sometimes chaotic and difficult times we have all recently experienced due to the impact of a world-wide pandemic. From bushfires to the pandemic and everything in between, 2020 has had us searching for hope, for meaning, for light. If we go back to the beginning of recorded Biblical history, we know that God saw light as essential for his creation. In the very first chapter of Genesis, we find the introduction of light into a world immersed in darkness and chaos, without shape or purpose. God began the process of creation and new life with light, the beginning of transformation.
We hope that you experience some representation of these sentiments in Into the Light.
NOTE:
The following performances were prepared during the limited rehearsal time available to students this year. Rehearsals occurred in Term 1 prior to remote learning and in Term 2 once school resumed onsite taking necessary COVID-19 rehearsal precautions. These recordings were made on August 5 and 6 before further restrictions on music rehearsals and performances came into place.
We thank our students and staff for persevering with such strength of character to produce this concert under the enormous restrictions and limitations on music making in 2020.
