Course Description:This course will train ~hestudents to think, act and respond differently during the engagement process not only relating to enforcement activities but during theinvestigative process. They will learn that what they do at the beginning, affects the "end result" and that each stage is as important as the next, for accomplishment'of their objectives. From the traffic stop to the "back room" setting, the dynamics taught in this program will lead to a higher rate of success and improve their skillsin the art and science of this discipline.The following topic areas will be covered;• Understanding the role of the Interrogator• \Language usage of deceptive individuals• Listening skills,• Interpretation of Non-verbal behavior• The questioning process• Mind set of deceptive individuals• Behavioral indicators relating to Officer safety during traffic or street side stops• Roadside & pristine interview settings Tactics for successful disclosure development• Legal issues regarding custody & Miranda,• Courtroom awareness regarding statement testimony and much more.

About the instructor:Greg Harlin, NYSP Senior Investigator (Retired)

Greg began his career with the City of Beacon PO, NY in 1973. In 1978, Greg joined the New York state police where he served until his retirement in 2000 as aSenior Investigator. Greg's 27 year career included duties in Juvenile Delinquency investigation and prevention, Undercover Narcotic investigations, CriminalInvestigations, Criminal Investigation and Specialized training and assignment to the NYDETF as an Assistant group supervisor of the Cali Cartel enforcementgroup.

Greg is an internationally recognized speaker and has trained numerous local, state, federal, military and international law enforcement agencies throughout theUnited States, Canada and the Caribbean since 1995. He is currently the President & CEO of MURLIN CONSULTANTS, adjunct instructor for IACP, MCTFT,NCTC, ALUTUQ International Services and is a core instructor for the New York State Police. Greg also trained the U.S. Army 1st Brigade Combat Team and the1st Battalion, 87th Infantry, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, NY. Greg was a development consultant for Rockefeller College, Albany, NY "distant learningprogram" in Interview & Interrogation Techniques and a consultant for the HBO Special "Ask Dr. Baden Autopsy 10 - "Lady in the Lake" series
