Questions and Answers
from the Interview
held in OSRAM
1. How many languages are required?
• It depends on the job position. We require English for most of the office jobs, for some of them it is necessary to speak one more world languge (mostly German).
• The company organizes
internal language
courses for both of
these languages.
2. a) What is the minimum wage? b) Will the wage change after spending
some years in this job?• It depends on the job position too.
Each position is placed in its own “tariff class“. The most frequent worker’s wage begins at 60,90 crowns/hour (it is called “training“). It goes up just after first 3 months at work. Then the wage is determined by the worker’s achievement, skills, approach and so on.
• This kind of wage system is similar in office positions. However, the “tariff classes“ are determined by month-wages, not by hour-wages.
3. If I am sick and I don’t go to work, am I
paid? (How much?)
• It is the same in all companies - according to the law.
4. How many hours a day do I have to
work?
It depends on the system of shifts. It is usually 7,5 hours a day - it means 37,5 hours a week.
5. a) Do I need IT skills?
b) Do I need a driving licence?
It again depends on the job position. For all office positions it is required to be able to work with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, eventually Access), MS Outlook, the Internet, eventually some specialized programmes. You also need a driving licence for a car to 3,5 tons.
6. Do you offer accomodation and transportation if the job is far from home?
The company provides transport benefits to its employees according to the distance of commuting. There are 3 zones of the distance, the benefit is paid twice a year. In some cases, the company also provides accommodation and financially supports it for some limited time.
7. What are the promotion chances? It depends on the employee's job performance, approach, skills and qualification. All employees are regularly assessed by their superiors. Then the employee's career progress is discussed. In the company, there have been lots of cases of great promotions. For example from a worker to a leader position, or some of those, who started working as graduates are working at high positions abroad now.
8. Do I have to work alone or in a team?
Generally, there is teamwork in each position, both in production and offices. Of course, it depends on the kind of job, machine, production line and so on.
9. How many days off do I have a year?
5 weeks of holiday (4 weeks by the law, 1 extra week is provided by Osram as the benefit for its employees)
