Reflection:

Environmental protection, pollution control and conservation of our countrys natural resources are deemed essential in the attainment of sustainable development. This truism has recently become an important imperative that is why our group decided to think of an advocacy to help in saving our Mother Earth. To achieve the promotion of better awareness of these issues, we came up with a key chain where in it is made up of garbage such as plastics forming a heart shape because we believe that a heart represents love and if there is love, there is unity. Through this key chain, the school and the community will cooperate and help in our campaign which aims to orient about the disadvantages of improper disposal of plastics and also to encourage the people to support the Clean and Green Environment program. As what we can say, in every hard work there is a worth success in the end. There are a lot of things we considered first before we come up with the idea of doing such project. First, it should be relevant to the present, it should be beneficial and informative and most of all it must be something that would help the environment since we are also advocacies against Global Warming and the Climate Change. One of our objectives is to alleviate plastics inside and out the campus of Bicol University in order to have a Green and Clean Environment which promotes a good start of saving our Mother Earth. This project is not just for us to comply with the requirements in our subject but also we aim to protect the world and to help prevent the total destruction of our environment even in just a simple way

At first, we conceptualized a possible title for our project that can make it more interesting to others and be able to share with them what message we are trying to convey. So after all the given ideas, we finally had the most suitable title for our project which is the HEART FOR NATURE with a slogan of A heart for nature, for a better future. In this statement, we can explain that if you really love and care for our nature and if you are really thinking for a brighter future, you must do something to attain it, dont just stand there and do nothing, take actions and make a change. It is something we realized while doing our project and also something that we want to share with our co-students. For us, this is a big contribution of disseminating information about the cause and effects of not throwing garbage in its proper places. One of our objectives also is to earn money to be used in making flyers that will inform the students on how to care for our nature. So we decided to make heart-shaped key chains that will be sold to the students of Bicol University in which the income will be used in making the flyers. We had fun while accomplishing the different tasks in making the key chains. We bought the needed materials in Legazpi City. February 1 -11, 2011 we started to pick up and collect plastics within the vicinity of the school. We also made a letter in preparation for the selling of our products. These are just some of the procedures that we have to finish before making the key chains. February 27, 2011 we go to the house of Celger Venzon, one of the members, to cut the gathered plastics into small pieces and finally to initiate the making of the said key chains. At first, we found it hard to do the furnishing of the final product; it was a bit difficult for us to close the plastic covers because we only used glue sticks to lock the key chains. But after all the hard work and determination, we still had the end product and it was very refreshing to us knowing that it was all worth it. During the selling of key chains (March 2-3, 2011), it was more fun because we can see the different reactions of the students who intended to be the buyers of our product, looking at their faces to know that they appreciated it so much, they liked the design and we can hear nothing but good compliments from them. After we had gathered the income, we now prepared the main tool of our campaign which is the flyers that contains the information about the different issues of our environment. March 9, 2011 was the distribution of the flyers. The recipient of which will read the content and hopefully realize the essence of protecting our environment and by this, a better awareness will be achieved that will able to grapple with the prevailing environmental problems that are currently besetting our society. While we are in the process of distributing the flyers, we can also notice the positive responses of the students. To know that they fully understand what we are trying to share with them and we are proud to say that a lot of them truly recognized our campaign. We felt enjoyed and satisfied with what we did, looking at the beautiful design of our product together with the slogan attached on it and to know that we obtained our objectives. Our group learned that even a simple worthless thing can be useful and can be a big help in protecting and saving our environment. We can say that we must be all aware of the different happenings around us, all the concerns that affect our lives and most especially our world. Let us be united and make difference.
