When I was 8, I asked my Dad why he named me

Nadia. He told me a story of the Olympic

Gymnast from Romania called Nadia Komenchi

who was the first to score a perfect 10. At

that time, I did not understand why he set

such a high goal of perfection. It seemed to

give me so much pressure. But as I grow up,

the more I understand that it's not perfection

that he wants me to achieve but for me to

keep dreaming and to be the best that I can

be. This is me, Nadia Chui.

About NadiaI am 12 year old girl, I like Sport, read and travel.

• From every since I can remember, I wanted to win.

My older sister, Alicia, share a lot of interest with

me. We would play table tennis, learn piano, play

chess, go swimming together. Every time we would

play, I would try to beat her. It never mattered to

me that she was 2 years older than me. All I wanted

to do was to be better than her. She won top 10 in

table tennis under 11 y.o. in U.S., I was ranked no.

3. She ran 5km and 10km races with my mom; I would

beat them running with my Dad. She loses to me

often. Sometimes because I beat her but sometimes

because she lets me win.

Being the Best that I can beFrom every since I can remember, I wanted to win.

• As she went to Hong Kong for school, I had less

and less time to see her. I miss her but I can only

see her on weekends and holidays. Now that I

have grown older, I know it's my turn to be the

older sister. Winning is important but sometimes

winning means losing and allowing someone else

to win. My younger brother, Linus, is now the

big winner in the family.

Being the Best that I can beFrom every since I can remember, I wanted to win.

• My parents keep telling me that each person can

make a difference. I have no idea how big the

world is. I have only been to U.S. a few times to

visit relatives and gone to some cities for vacations

and races. But teachers teach me other places in

the world and far parts of China where people are

poor. I try to go with my family on Red Cross

service trips whenever I can. Once I was able to

bring some food and moon cakes to old people who

had no families to take care of them. Then I know

I made a difference at least for that one day. I

volunteered to help on the United Nation's Peace

Day celebration for a few years. Hopefully one day

I can help as many people as the U.N. can.

Changing The World I believe that each person can make a difference.

• I love art and I love writing. I like to draw a

lot and express my feelings with my drawings

and colors. I have started to learn to

photography. My father keeps telling me to

see and take pictures of the world from a

different perspective and to tell the story of

what I see with just the photo. When I grow

up I can continue to draw, photo and write my

stories. This summer I will begin my webpage

and my weibo where I share what I created.
