Clairvision Astrology - An Introduction Astrology for transformation At the Clairvision School astrology is used for transformation, rather than for mundane purposes: it is a

tool, used to change your life. It allows you to look at yourself in all sorts of different ways. It opens a

world of potential – windows into yet-to-be discovered parts of yourself. As such, nothing is fixed. The Clairvision work is based on a philosophy of free will. An astrological chart

has many facets. It is up to you to choose which qualities will be developed, and which avenues of life will

be explored. Character-oriented astrology In this chart interpretation you will notice the terms ‘character’ and ‘soul forces’. Characters are

subpersonalities, that is, various facets of the psyche. In a person, there may be several characters and soul

forces which are not yet consciously recognized, but have potential and may only surface with time - or

perhaps remain buried in the depths of the psyche. The Clairvision approach sees the astrological chart as a map of a person's characters. Some of the

characters described in the interpretation will be very familiar. Others may not be apparent. They may have

been conspicuous only in one earlier phase of the person's life, or they may not have blossomed yet - or

perhaps they correspond to deep unconscious material. Because one of the most exciting sides of

astrological interpretation is to reveal hidden soul forces and potential, the characters described in the

interpretation that a person cannot recognize in themselves may actually be the most important. This interpretation is valid both for tropical and sidereal charts The astrologers of the Clairvision School favor a sidereal system of astrology (taking into account the

precession of the equinoxes) because this matches astronomical reality, meaning the position of planets as

you see them when contemplating the sky. In a sidereal chart, planetary positions on the zodiac differ by more than 23 degrees compared to a tropical

chart. But the relative positions of the planets (aspects) and the positions of planets in houses remain the

same. Because the interpretation we are offering you is mainly based on astrological aspects, it remains the

same for tropical and sidereal charts.

Uranus in the 6th house (strength =25) North Node in the 3rd house (strength =10) Black Moon in the 9th house (strength =0) Ascendant (strength =0) Mercury conjunct Mars (orb: 1°42’) Keywords The Mars-Mercury combination tends to impart the qualities of Mars to the mental organisation: • alertness, sharpness, mental agility, mental stamina; • discernment, critical mind; • can have a lot of clarity if he/she does not let himself/herself be heated up with anger; • sharp tongue, can talk a lot; • enjoys debates, likes to challenge ideas and people, argumentative. This association of planetary forces can bring a strong sense of humour, and a witty temperament. If not properly controlled, a Mars-Mercury aspect can also lead to impulsiveness and agitation. Working on yourself It could be that anger is one of your issues in life. If you feel harassed by thoughts when meditating, it is essential that you engage in a systematic eradication

of deeply rooted emotional charges. On an unseen level, these are the fuel that feeds your continuous trains

of thoughts. Rather than fighting against the mind, engage in an in-depth exploration and cleaning of your

subconscious. A Mercury-Mars mind is strong. This may mean strong mental resistance in the beginning. But once

overcome, your spiritual vision may well be endowed with especially strong qualities of discernment. The

Mercury-Mars association is one for ‘penetration vision’, or ‘clair-vision’. The stamina which used to feed

relentless thoughts becomes tamed through your practice and becomes an energy which allows you to

access hyper-conscious frequencies of the supermind. If this chart is the chart of your partner Make sure that all issues are talked out. A Mars-Mercury person can be the one who keeps a bee in their

bonnet. More generally, your partner is sharp, but not necessarily always easy to live with. Perhaps you may learn to recognise when the Mars-Mercury energy becomes heated up in them and not let

yourself be caught in useless arguments and table-tennis types of discussions. The more you respond, the

more your partner's Mars will heat up. Unconditional opening and receptivity, on the other hand, may de-

activate the process in one minute and restore a field of open communication.

Whenever you feel that tension is rising, an excellent tactic can also be to deviate it into humour-a quality

that is rarely lacking in Mars-Mercury people. Sun conjunct Mars (orb: 4°58’) Keywords Will power, born warrior. Sun and Mars are the two planets of fire. In a major aspect, they reinforce each other in a combination for

will power and direction. The Sun-Mars warrior character Born fighter, innate need to conquer. Self confidence. Ambition, need to succeed, to reach the summit, to be the number one. The Sun stands for the heart, Mars for the will and action; the combination gives the ability to really put

one's heart into what one is doing. It also introduces drive into the very core of oneself. Will power: if you want it, you can make it happen-regardless. Direction and directness. The leader character Mars’ fire enhances the leadership qualities of the Sun. Need to shine, to be the number one. Radiating authority. Can be extremely sure of himself/herself, and thus command respect. Good at making choices and decisions and discerning a direction, even in complicated situations. Hot blood Sun-Mars is the most fiery of all planetary combinations. This aspect is therefore one for passion, hot emotions. Possible flares of anger and aggressiveness. Need to learn to control oneself. And even more: need to learn to relax. If one was to learn to control

through more tension, then the results could only be detrimental, both for the psyche and for the body. The need to relax There may well be more will power than the body can cope with. This means the person has enough drive

to keep themselves going even if their system is tired. Even if one can cope with much more than average

people, in the long run pushing too far could bring an exhaustion of one's resources.

Page 9: Interpretation Salvador Dali

There is a need to take care of one's (physical) heart and to regularly check one's blood pressure. Working on yourself As there is a high potential of will and fire, you must regularly ask yourself “What I am doing with it?” As

a genie out of its bottle, such will potential cannot remain unused. If it does not work for you, it will work

against you. There is the need to find a focus for your will, a direction. Without it, there will always be the

feeling of a major emptiness in your life. However, the Sun and Mars together usually find a purpose to set themselves in movement. There is

therefore an even greater pitfall-being caught in hard work and fighting to achieve something which will

not bring you real satisfaction in the end. This calls for a lot of sincerity, and the capacity to discern if your

thirst for achieving comes from the deepest of yourself, or just from a character. With a Sun-Mars major

aspect, there is bound to be an ambitious character inside you. This character may well have dictated its

choices at times, and propelled you into seeking wealth and power, or anything else, just in order to satisfy

its own desires. As you grow up spiritually and your life motivation becomes more refined, it is essential to periodically

reassess whether your efforts are driven by a ‘thirst-for-success’ character. Sun conjunct Mercury (orb: 3°17’) Keywords A conjunction without great meaning by itself. This aspect is not of major importance in itself. Some have even implied that a certain distance between the

Sun and Mercury is a factor of broader intelligence and that, conversely, a Sun-Mercury conjunction is

rather a narrowing influence on the mind. We do not believe a word of that. Anyway, the maximum

distance that Mercury can be from the Sun is 28 degrees. Knowing that the orb of conjunctions is 10

degrees, one can deduce that about a third of the human population has a Sun-Mercury conjunction! This

does not say much about the specificity of the aspect. The Sun-Mercury conjunction is part of the ‘chameleon’ aspects. It does not mean much in itself. However,

it may significantly reinforce other aspects of the Sun and of Mercury. Mars square Saturn (orb: 4°31’) Keywords Channelled will power, self control and superior perseverance – or inhibition by Saturnian limitations. Mars and Saturn are two planets of antagonistic values: Mars by nature is fiery, outgoing, impulsive;

Saturn is cautious, introverted, and cool. The encounter between the two contains great promises, but will

pose a challenge in integrating the dialectically opposed qualities. Characters and soul forces related to the Mars-Saturn combination Mars-Saturn will power

Chart Interpretation

9

Page 10: Interpretation Salvador Dali

If harmonious integration between Mars and Saturn is reached, Mars’ libido-fire is channelled by Saturn.

The arrow of Mars knows exactly where it is going. Hence the following qualities: Capacity for concentration. Planned and carefully prepared action. Precision. Organisation. Discipline. Self

control. Persistence, determination. Duration in effort. Unwavering. Has earth element (Saturn) to support the Mars. Common sense. Grounding. Solid, serious, responsible, reliable, trustworthy. Good at progressive enterprises that succeed by methodically overcoming obstacle after obstacle. Good at building-a master builder. Good judgement (Mars -Saturn is THE combination for judgement). Good at making decisions. Excellent

manager/board executive. Often picked for positions of responsibility. The Mars-Saturn cautious character Thinks so much before acting that he/she ends up doing nothing. Caution becomes inhibition. Often has lots of good reasons to delay action: think about risks, think about things going wrong, or ‘We've

got to do it perfectly right’, or perhaps ethical concerns. Sometimes unable to discern that in reality, these

are pretexts the mind uses to justify blocking action. Possibly ascetic tendencies. The Mars flow contained by Saturnian limitations, resulting into a build up of anxiety (Often associated with the Mars-Saturn character.) In terms of energy, the Mars libido and action is not allowed to flow outwards properly, due to Saturnian

personality limitations and rigid structure. The result is a build up of inner pressure with inner tension,

suppressed anger, frustration, teeth grinding, fears and anxiety. Guilt (a Mars-Saturn ‘special’). Sometimes, toiling or labouring for self-imposed or unclear reasons. Always better when they exercise physically, work in the garden, or simply get moving. Always better

when they have a job than when unemployed. Any action process that gets the Mars moving brings relief,

acting as a pressure cooker valve for the inner tension. The worst situation for this character is to ‘freeze’,

that is, undergo a period of total inaction due to rigidification of all blockages. The Mars-Saturn cold, selfish character Can be extremely ambitious, and acquisitive. Cold greed. Achieves his/her plans regardless of circumstances or people's feelings. Can easily become harsh, hard, ruthless, and even cruel. Divorced from his/her own feelings.

Page 11: Interpretation Salvador Dali

Working on yourself With a Mars-Saturn major aspect, you will always benefit from making an inventory of all your self-

imposed limits or taboos: the limits that you create in your head. A number of factors which you implicitly

regard as limitations may actually be sheer illusions. Mars square Black Moon (orb: 6°35’) Keywords The Mars stamina pulled towards the inner universe. The Black Moon, with its metaphysical depth and its intimate relationship to the deepest of the human

psyche, can significantly modify the significance of Mars in a chart. It adds an occult dimension to it. It

makes the native more likely to use his/her Mars energy to work on himself/herself and explore inner

worlds rather than only being concerned with external things and the material world. It can give a strong

need to follow a spiritual path and explore the hidden mysteries of existence rather than just being engaged

in materialistic pursuits. But at times, the pull towards the depth of the psyche can also result in a paralysis of the Mars stamina,

caused by deep unresolved conflicts. Profound inner upheavals can then make the native go through phases

of an ‘eclipsed Mars’, losing their sense of direction and being unable to achieve in the world. This is a

general characteristic about the Black Moon: to those who are in touch with the depth of themselves, it

gives sharpness and adds even further depth. But to those who are disconnected from their own depth, it can

creates crises of great magnitude. Mars trine North Node (orb: 1°06’) Keywords Mars between one's past (South Node) and one's future (North Node). Indicates the necessity to positively

accept challenges in life and to take an active attitude towards one's destiny. Sitting and waiting for

opportunities is simply not good enough. There is a need to be outgoing, to not only grasp opportunities but

also make them happen. This is an incarnation to develop will, and to use it. Mars sextile Midheaven (orb: 4°44’) Keywords This aspect strengthens Mars and the person's will power. It makes the drive flow into the sphere of career

and material realisations in general. In itself, it is not an aspect to sit around and do nothing. It pushes

towards action, and the manifestation of all the values signified by other aspects to Mars. Mars sextile Ascendant (orb: 5°22’) Keywords This aspect to the Ascendant strengthens the Mars planetary force, giving drive, focus and physical

resistance.

Chart Interpretation

11

Page 12: Interpretation Salvador Dali

In itself, this aspect to the Ascendant gives energy and vitality. Mercury square Saturn (orb: 2°49’) Keywords The Mercury-Saturn combination is usually favourable, in particular for intelligence. Saturn, planet of limits, can by itself become restricted and excessively earthy. Mercury adds lightness to it,

and speeds up its vibration level. Out of two archetypal figures attached to Saturn, the peasant and the

scientist, Mercury pushes for the latter by adding air element, sharpness of mind, intuition and some

originality. Also, Mercury's sense of humour can only contribute to lightening the heavy sides of Saturn. Mercury, planet of the mind, may have among its drawbacks a certain superficiality, a lack of fixity, and

instability-all of which will be positively counterbalanced by Saturn's weight. Mercury is good at

establishing connections between things but may, by itself, find it difficult to ground these into practical

applications-which can only be improved by Saturn's earth element. The qualities of structure inherent in Saturn will favour many positive traits in the Mercury-mental

organisation: depth of mind, concentration power and focus, precision, method, mental rigour and logic,

common sense, judgement and discernment, ability for sciences and/or sustained studies. It also brings certain Saturnian features to the personality such as perseverance, seriousness, honesty,

trustworthiness, reliability, and a touch of reserve. The Mercury-Saturn combination favours practicality and management skills-someone serious, dependable

and reliable, who can carry out tasks properly. The possible drawbacks would be more or less the same in a conjunction or a trine as they are in a square or

an opposition. Saturn always brings a certain danger of dryness. The native must make sure that he/she does

not become caught in cold and sterile logical patterns. Mercury trine North Node (orb: 2°47’) Keywords To move towards one's North Node, that is, one's future, one needs to develop the qualities of Mercury:

versatility, flexibility, capacity to look at various avenues in life. People with this configuration may find

that they can solve a number of their problems by being light, not taking life with an overwhelmingly

serious attitude. Use sense of humour and develop a certain playfulness. Mercury sextile Ascendant (orb: 3°40’) Keywords This aspect reinforces the values of Mercury: changeability, adaptability. It tends to speed up the general

functioning of the mind, and of the person in general. It can give itchy feet, and push towards travelling. Sun square Saturn (orb: 0°27’)

Chart Interpretation

12

Page 13: Interpretation Salvador Dali

Keywords The structured ego The structure and fixity of Saturn combining with the will and direction of the Sun gives: resolution,

determination, steadfastness and perseverance in the pursuit of long term goals, and even stubbornness,

obstinacy, capacity to insist and keep on with a task until it yields results. Self control, sense of discipline, Spartan disposition. Common sense, groundedness. Can be very straight, sincere. Deep need for purity and perfection (which can be a major driving force in a spiritual quest). Someone with

a strong Sun-Saturn aspect is likely to appreciate the barren beauty of the desert, whether sandy or arctic. Capacity to make sacrifices in order to achieve one's goal, and perhaps self-denial, or even ascetic

tendencies. May be slow to decide to start a spiritual path, but if they do they will stick to it unvascillatingly. ‘Gentle

bulldozer’ kind of spiritual resolution. An excellent aspect to practice, practice, practice... Natural affinity

with asceticism. There may also be, at times, personality clashes, conflicts with figures of authority and with hierarchy in

general. The barricaded ego Self (Sun)-restraint (Saturn). Reserved and formal. Rigid and stern father image. Rigidity. Likely to display consistent resistance mechanisms in ISIS or other techniques of self-exploration. The Saturnian qualities may sometimes mask an inability to deal with chaos. Freaks out if the kitchen is not

impeccable. Difficulty in being flexible and doing things other than in their own way. Needs lessons in

chaos (but will he/she cope?) Sometimes the fixity of Saturn may cause people to be slow to realise they need to operate a change. Can also have a certain tendency to coldness. Cold ambition that nothing will stop. Without some Uranus or Neptune, the earthly values of Saturn may floor the personality into short-sighted

materialism and an obnoxious type of ‘common-sense’. The relationship to the father Sun and Saturn are the two significators of the father, and so any aspect between these two planets tends to

highlight the relationship with one's father-for good or bad. A harmonious father image will play a role of

deep foundation in the client's psyche. Conversely, if the father was absent or cold, the result may be a big

hole, nearly like a missing bit. Working on yourself

Chart Interpretation

13

Page 14: Interpretation Salvador Dali

A constant aspiration for opening and surrender is needed to counteract the fixity of Saturn. Do not let yourself be trapped in the pitfalls of stubbornness, whereby you reinforce the resistance

mechanisms, perhaps even under the appearance of putting the process into practice. The person should

always be careful not to let themselves be taken into dogmatic trends of thoughts and practice. Diet

fanaticism, in particular, is always a major peril for someone spiritual with a major Sun-Saturn aspect.

Sackcloth and ashes are definitely out! The problem with Sun-Saturn spiritual seekers is often that they do not see how their rigid ego structure

hides behind their ascetic tendencies. Asceticism, in itself, is beautiful of course. But if it becomes a refuge

for the little ego's barricades, then it will never lead to enlightenment. There may well be a need to learn

about Moon indulging, in order to break rigidity. Otherwise there is the risk of a certain constipation of the

creativity, and endless resistance mechanisms. Sun trine North Node (orb: 6°04’) Keywords The Shining power of the Sun leading from the South Node (past lives) to the North Node (future). The

configuration points towards the necessity of manifesting Ego and heart qualities in order to find one's life

direction and fulfil it. Sun sextile Ascendant (orb: 0°24’) Keywords Reinforces the Sun values in the general organisation of the personality, as well as the importance of all

other aspects to the Sun. Moon conjunct Midheaven (orb: 2°28’) Keywords An aspect of the Moon to the Midheaven can give an ability to tune into the psychology of large groups and

an intuitive understanding of how they operate. This could manifest in a natural tendency to be popular. More generally, the combination Moon-Midheaven can indicate a marriage of the poles of intuition /

instinct and of that of action. The result is a knowingness of how to act and behave in a number of

situations, and an instinctive approach to decision making. This also means that one must make sure one is

driven by instinct, and not by samskaras and other negative subconscious imprints. The Moon, however, is the fertile planet, and its association with the Midheaven can be a significant boost

to the individual's creativity (in which case the monthly transits of the Moon on the native Moon and

Midheaven are likely to be propitious times for being creative and productive). Moon square Neptune (orb: 1°39’) Keywords Exceptional sensitivity, highly plastic and changeable, psychic abilities.

Chart Interpretation

14

Page 15: Interpretation Salvador Dali

The Moon is related to water and earth elements. Neptune raises its level of vibration from down to earth to

more imaginative and spiritual dimensions. Moon-Neptune: 2 watery energies combining into the most sensitive of all planetary blends Fantastic imagination. Intense dream life (superlative dreaming, even with eyes wide open). Easy access to the unconscious. Dreams of ideals. Romantic dispositions. (Think of John Lennon, Moon-Neptune trine). Can become

emotionally indulgent at times. Highly plastic (superlative water). Impressionable mind. Highly changeable and multifaceted personality. Potential for great compassion. Ideals of love. Extremely psychic The plastic psyche is particularly good at tuning into things and people. Good at opening. Visions and psychic abilities through great opening-if one can go beyond the vagueness. Angel connections. Need for merging. Edgar Cayce, the ‘sleeping prophet’, had a Moon-Neptune conjunction in the Midheaven. Possible pitfalls of the Moon-Neptune association Difficulty separating the conscious from unconscious material. Self-delusion. Confusion. Dreaming beyond limits. The dreaming can become escapism, and the person may withdraw into a reality of his/her own. Danger of fooling oneself. (In terms of the Clairvision work, this is a combination for ‘missing bits’.) Both the Moon and Neptune are, by nature, better at blending than at doing. If there is not a push from other

planets (the Moon-Neptune of Cayce was trine a Mars-Jupiter conjunction), there may be a danger of

sinking into a purely introverted disposition without concrete realisations. The Moon-Neptune combination can result in prepersonal features Old, atavistic clairvoyance. The need for opening and merging. Tendency to form symbiotic relationships. May find it difficult to discern if what one feels comes from

oneself or from other people, that is, discern between your emotions and someone else's .

Chart Interpretation

15

Page 16: Interpretation Salvador Dali

Risk of acting as a sponge for the vibrations of the environment, in particular the astral environment. If the

person experiences being swamped by doom and gloom without any apparent reason, it is likely they need

to learn how to protect themselves better from their energetic environment, and more generally from the

global fluctuations which regularly sway the consciousness of the planet. Unclear sense of one's own boundaries. Difficulty in self-differentiation. Unclear sense of one's own identity. Moon square Uranus (orb: 2°58’) Keywords Uranus is the planet of unexpected flashes and sudden changes. The Moon signifies feelings and sensitivity. This aspect will imprint a Uranus flavour on this Moon sensitivity. Thus the native tends to know

immediately if he/she likes someone or not; attractions, likes and dislikes tend to be clearly marked, and are

as intense as they are sudden. When this happens, the native should always question whether the first impression is justified, and whether

the person is really as their intuition suggested. Uranus has a stirring, awakening, and even shaking influence over the Moon values. This brings originality to the native's imagination. It is also a factor of a wakefulness and sharpness-the

opposite of a pre-personal, dreamy, sleepy Moon. There has to be strong passions at times. For the not so good sides, it may bring an element of agitation, and possibly nervousness. In this chart, because this aspect is tight, the passionate, fiery nature may even be one of the main

characteristics of the native. The feeling of life is superlative. Nothing is done or felt half way. It is an all or

nothing configuration. Moon is the planet of memory, and Uranus that of the supermind. The association can bring an exceptional

memory. The Moon-Uranus combination can also bring extremely psychic qualities: flashes of intuition,

clairvoyance, prophetic dreams and inspiration. The Moon is the planet of intuition and imagination,

Uranus that of third eye flashes and supermind inspiration. The association of the two can lead to great

insights into non-physical realities, as well as visions of the future. Only patient cultivation and practice can bring this visionary potential to fruition. But people with Moon-

Uranus aspects should be made aware that such potential is likely to be dormant inside them, whether they

suspect it or not. Moon opposed North Node (orb: 6°06’) Keywords A conjunction of the Moon with the Dragon's Tail (South Node) points to the values of the Moon as having

played a significant role in one's past lives. It can mean past lives in which one dealt a lot with children

Chart Interpretation

16

Page 17: Interpretation Salvador Dali

It can also mean past lives in which sensation and emotions were very much at the foreground; this can

mean that the person has arrived in this life with an extreme degree of opening and sensitivity, which may

now create problems at times. Another level of symbolism can be that of past lives in a prepersonal atmosphere of merging, where the

person was intimately united to a group Ego. This may now result in a great nostalgia for the bliss of these

past states, and also perhaps a difficulty in coping with the competitive values of modern life. Neptune square Midheaven (orb: 4°07’) Keywords Idealism, need to overcome vagueness to find one's purpose in life. Finding purpose and direction in life as a central issue. Neptune brings idealism and potentially high inspiration, but is not always good at finding direction,

practical applications, and impetus to initiate moves. If these vagueness-related drawbacks can be overcome, then there is potential for realisations on a large

scale (Neptunian vastness), regardless of which field, and supported by an idealistic vision. Otherwise, wandering in nebulousness and daydreams, never achieving anything concrete. Can also indicate an affinity with artistic, creative occupations. Uranus square Midheaven (orb: 0°30’) Keywords Apart from reinforcing Uranus, this aspect helps one to use its values constructively in one's profession and

creative activities. It brings innovative power and the capacity to deal with technology and new trends. It can also indicate that one's career will undergo sudden, unexpected changes. North Node opposed Midheaven (orb: 3°38’) Keywords This position means that the axis of the nodes, the ‘axis of destiny’, coincides with the axis Midheaven-

Imum Coeli, which is the axis of the will. Here, however, the direction is pointing down, with the North

Node conjunct to the Imum Coeli which is, both materially and symbolically, the point of maximum depth

in the chart. This can mean that the soul has incarnated with the purpose of a descent into the depth of the

psyche, far into the subconscious and even beyond it. It is a powerful combination to work on oneself and

conduct self-exploration processes to their extreme limit. Venus sextile Neptune (orb: 0°33’) Keywords Neptune has often been considered a ‘transcended’ Venus, or higher octave of Venus. Aspects between

these two planets therefore highlight all the higher qualities of Venus.

Chart Interpretation

17

Page 18: Interpretation Salvador Dali

This is a combination for great compassion and a loving nature, high receptivity, inspiration and creativity. There is a great degree of idealism but, as often with Neptune, great efforts may be needed to move away

from nebulousness and impracticality into concrete realisations. Feelings, affection and sentimental exchanges play an essential role in the native's life. People with this

aspect are often good at tuning into others and feeling what they feel, which can make them particularly

sensitive. The need for harmony and shared sensitivity is extreme. In relation to the merging nature of Neptune, the native is driven by an extraordinarily deep need to find

perfect spiritual union, like a mystical wedding with an ideal soul mate. The sooner the native can realise that there is an element of dream in this aspiration, the less wandering and

disillusionment he/she will have to go through in life. The aspirations of Neptune are fundamentally of a

spiritual nature and can never be durably fulfilled only through Venusian romance. Different avenues are open. One is to escape into a world of dream and fantasies, perhaps reading romantic

novels or watching lots of sentimental movies. One clings to those around for a love one never really fully

receives. At the same time, one part inside behaves as if Prince Charming was about to walk through the

door any minute. Another is to multiply relationships, each time fooling oneself into believing that this time perhaps, ‘this is

the one!’ The native goes from partner to partner, and the blurry character of Neptune-lower-mode can

there take the native into complicated affairs, secret liaisons or even intrigues. Think for instance of Shirley

MacLaine (Venus opposed Neptune) in Out on a Limb, idealising her relationships with her politician lover

whom she describes as her companion of several lifetimes. Another possibility again is to disconnect, close off from one's sensitivity and act if there was no Venus in

one's chart. Perhaps one of the important lessons the person can learn from this life is that none of the above mentioned

avenues will bring real satisfaction. Ultimately, this need for a partner is a need for God and, whether one

has a partner or not, fulfilment will only come from rising to a new spiritual dimension. Arts Venus and Neptune are the two artists of the family of planets. Aspects between the two therefore enhances

the sense of beauty, aesthetic receptivity and artistic creativity. The native knows how to enjoy visual,

auditory and other sensory input far beyond the average person. He/she can spend entire days of fascination

wandering in art galleries. To him/her, a number of sensations and perceptions become alive. There is life

in colours and in music, and they know how to drink it through the senses. When tuning inside, he/she can

and does receive flows of creative inspiration. Even if the native is not religious, he/she invests a sense of the Divine in his/her approach to art. Art is an

avenue to open to a greater inner life, and peep into one's unity with universal harmony. There is a rich inner life of the senses, but whether the person will be able to manifest any of this into some

concrete realisations depends on the general structure of the rest of the chart.

Venus trine Uranus (orb: 5°11’) Keywords Venus, planet of feelings, values and sensitivity receives the awakening influence of Uranus. This gives a sense of ideal, in love of course, but also more generally throughout the spectrum of the

person's values. Creativity Uranus being the planet of inspirational flashes and even genius, the association with Venus can result in

outpourings of creativity. Creativity comes in sudden outbursts, during which the native becomes completely absorbed in what he/she

is doing. This aspect is favourable for the creators of the Age of Aquarius. Uranus is good at technology, and thus

the native may excel in marrying art and technology or, more generally, in using technology in whatever

form of creative expression they have chosen. People with a Uranus-Venus aspect should always be encouraged to use their creative potential and find a

field in which they can express themselves. Apart from bringing valuable contributions to others, this will

also allow them to find an outlet for the strong Uranus winds which flow through their consciousness.

Creating is for them a way of discharging tension and finding a balance. Love and Feelings The encounter of Venus, planet of romance, and Uranus, planet of the unexpected, is bound to bring an

element of surprise in the sentimental life of the native. Some encounters may suddenly change the emotional landscape. There may also be a tendency to be attracted to original people or the unconventional-and more generally to

people with a Uranus personality. If your partner has a Venus-Uranus aspect, beware! If you are too

conventional and make no effort to surprise them at times, they may well find you boring, and do what

Uranus is so good at doing: move, and fast! Conversely, if you want to gain favour with someone with this

aspect-surprise them. They've got rhythm, can you follow? Use your sense of humour, which Uranus is

nearly always fond of. Last but not least, leave them plenty of space, for their nature is highly independent. (Note that this applies not only to sexual relationships but to all forms of associations and partnerships.) Uranus hates routines. There is definitely a need for some originality in the way relationships are set,

conducted, and also possibly finished. The sex life may also prove far more original than that of the average

person (Uranus loves to experiment). It's got to be magic, or it's a waste of time. Deeper even than all of this, the idealistic temperament of Uranus combined with the High Priest(ess) side

of Venus may set the native in quest of the ideal love, the perfect union which is (even) more mystic than

sexual. Venus sextile Black Moon (orb: 2°50’)

Chart Interpretation

19

Page 20: Interpretation Salvador Dali

Keywords Black Moon adds depth and originality to Venus. On one level, the combination can be excellent. Venus has several wonderful sides, but by itself can

sometimes be superficial. From that point of view, it can only benefit from the exacting influence of Black

Moon, and of its need for ideal, absolute and perfection. This can lead to powerful realisations, not only in the field of arts, but also in several other professional

activities-provided they can be an outlet for your creativity. (Black Moon does enhance the creative side of

Venus. In many cases, it also adds a metaphysical dimension to it.) Because the need for perfection can be extreme, you must make sure that it does not become paralysing (as

in the case of people who prefer to refrain from relationships rather than being with someone who is not the

absolute perfect match, or people who prefer to create nothing rather than run the risk of creating something

imperfect). Jupiter sextile Saturn (orb: 3°48’) Keywords Jupiter and Saturn incarnate opposite sets of values. Jupiter is outgoing, optimistic, jovial, likes to take risks

and be in the limelight. Saturn enjoys introversion, is rather pessimistic by nature or at least cautious, and

enjoys solitary activities. And so on with a long list. Thus all aspects of Jupiter and Saturn pose a challenge: how to integrate all these contradictory values? If such integration can be achieved, then the result is a great power of realisation. Jupiter and Saturn are the

two planets of ‘materialisation’, with which one can carry on projects of a certain dimension and make

things happen in the world- the archetypal example of a sublime achiever with a Jupiter-Saturn conjunction

being William Shakespeare. Another example of irresistible force is Bruce Lee. Many aspects of Jupiter and Saturn are difficult to live with because the two planets stand for opposite

values. The sextile, however, does not bring many of these dilemmas because it is a milder aspect which

helps the two planets reinforce and support one another, rather than clashing and conflicting. For the good side, the sextile reinforces the native's capacity to achieve in the material world. Jupiter and

Saturn are ‘social’ planets, their values condition how the native will relate to the community and express

himself/herself creatively in the social context and the material world in general. There is, in a harmonious

marriage of Saturn and Jupiter, a lot of common sense and practical values, which are excellent for running

a business, for instance, or conducting enterprises of a certain dimension. Jupiter provides the oomph and

expansion, and Saturn gives a touch of rigour so as not to go overboard and keep the accounting under

control. For the not so good side, with aspects of Jupiter and Saturn there always tends to be at least a touch of

oscillating between hyper- and hypo- phases, enthusiasm and pessimism, outgoingness and withdrawal. Jupiter sextile Pluto (orb: 2°37’) Keywords

Chart Interpretation

20

Page 21: Interpretation Salvador Dali

Jupiter, king of heaven; Pluto king of the underworld and richest of all beings-there has to be some special

accumulation of power, material and occult, in this combination. It gives great magnetism, presence, charisma and capacity to influence others. In terms of energy, this can be seen as a power in the lower chakras which can draw forces (including

money) and people to itself. Through their Pluto force, the native can hold vast resources in his/her sphere

of influence. Think of Mick Jagger who, apart from earning 25 million dollars in the nineteen-seventies, wonderfully

incarnates the irresistible underground magnetism of a Jupiter-Pluto conjunction. Jupiter square Ascendant (orb: 2°57’) Keywords An aspect which intensifies the Jupiterian values in the make up of the individual. A factor of optimism,

joviality, and generosity. Saturn trine Pluto (orb: 1°11’) Keywords Contained/restrained explosion. Rock solid. A slow aspect As with all combinations of slow planets, a Saturn-Pluto aspect lasts several months, and thus appears in all

the charts of people born during that period. It is therefore not a very specific aspect. As such, its individual

significance will vary depending on other aspects to Saturn and Pluto. Movement: restrained explosion The nature of Saturn is to put limits. The nature of Pluto is to implode and then explode. The combined

movement is one of containment of Pluto's release-restrained explosion. The result is either a phenomenal

build up of tension, or a control bordering on total mastery over the force. Think of Rudolf Steiner, who had Pluto conjunct Mars on an angle, and trine Saturn. The danger of suppression Pluto needs to transform. If Saturn is allowed to impede these transformations, the result may be a climax

of frustration, with suppressed anger and teeth grinding. The native goes through periods of feeling trapped

as if in a cage. Rock solid character Saturn, planet of earth. Pluto, planet of the underworld. The combination is dense to the extreme-solid like

rock-and can lead to extremely crystallised characters. Endurance. Resistance beyond measure (both the good sides and the not so good sides of resistance).

Can be extremely heavy. Can become earth bound. Uranus opposed Neptune (orb: 4°37’) Keywords An aspect of a generation: Uranus and Neptune are very slow planets. Aspects between them therefore last

for years, and are therefore not specific (that is, not meaningful on an individual level), unless aspected to

other planets or to the angles. Neptune trine Black Moon (orb: 2°16’) Keywords An aspect which can strongly reinforce the mystical nature of Neptune, and add metaphysical dimension to

its inspiration. The combination can be highly prophetic. But with Neptune, things always run the risks of remaining blurry-especially knowing that Black Moon

relates to the depths of the unconscious. It is only when someone has done the inner work which allows

them to realise the spiritual potential of Neptune that the support of this aspect to Black Moon can be

experienced. The more Neptune is aspected to other planets in the chart, the more this aspect will be significant, adding a

Black Moon touch to the personality: sharpness, inner depth and need for perfection (which combines with

Neptune's idealism). Uranus opposed Pluto (orb: 9°55’) Keywords Uranus and Pluto are very slow planets. Aspects between them last for years, and therefore are more

indicative of a generation than of individuals. Individual features are to be looked at more from other aspects to Uranus or Pluto, rather than from the

Uranus-Pluto aspect itself. Pluto square North Node (orb: 6°48’) Keywords This configuration points towards the necessity for great transformation during this incarnation. If the

native undergoes these metamorphoses, his/her condition of consciousness at the end of this life will be

completely different from how it was at the beginning. The less the native resists the transformations, the more he/she understands them and flows with them, the

less they are likely to be dramatic or painful. The more he/she can move towards his/her new self, the less

there is need for crises. Uranus sextile Black Moon (orb: 2°21’) Keywords

Chart Interpretation

22

Page 23: Interpretation Salvador Dali

The Black Moon reinforces the independent and original nature of Uranus. If well aspected to the rest of the

chart, it can be an extremely creative aspect. Black Moon-Lilith and Uranus have a number of features in common: taste for independence, dislike of

routines and anything which can perceived as enslaving constraints, affinity with original things, and a

rebel-if not rebellious-nature. (In Kabbalistic mythology, Lilith was Adam's first wife. She rebelled and left

him because she did not want to be subjected to his control.) On the lower mode, this aspect can enhance the potential restlessness associated with Uranus and make it

difficult for the native to stick to long term enterprises or follow any kind of discipline. On the higher mode, the sharpness and originality of Black Moon will reinforce the imagination and

creativity of Uranus. On an even higher mode, the metaphysical depth of the Black Moon combines with Uranus in the chart of

great visionaries such as Sri Aurobindo (Mars, Uranus, Black Moon conjunct in the 12th), or Edgar Cayce

(opposition). Think also of the depth of vision of people such as John Kennedy (opposition), or Steven

Spielberg (opposition). Uranus square North Node (orb: 3°08’) Keywords North Node stands for one's destiny and stepping into one's future. Its association with Uranus suggests that

it is by using the values of this planet that one can resolve a number of major problems in this life and move

towards one's next evolutionary steps. This may well imply the capacity to shake one's routines and develop one's originality. Use lateral thinking.

Be daring, not letting yourself be confined by established models and cannons. There is a need for

independence; if one lets oneself be moulded by one's environment, one runs the risk of missing one's

destiny. It could well be that a few times during this incarnation, some radical changes will be needed.

Glossary of Astrological Terms Angles: in an astrological chart, the four angles are the Ascendant, the Descendant, the Midheaven and the

Imum Coeli. Planets close to an angle exert a powerful influence in the chart. Ascendant: the part of the horizon where planets rise. In astrological charts, planets close to the ascendant

are considered especially powerful. The Ascendant is the beginning of the first house. Aspect: the angular relationship between planets. For instance, a sextile takes place when two planets are

separated by 60 degrees or so. Aspects associate the values of the two planets. Black Moon: the second focus of the Moon's orbit around the Earth. A highly metaphysical point in an

astrological chart. Cluster: more than two planets in a conjunction. It indicates an intense concentration of psychological

forces. Conjunction: one of the major aspects, formed when two planets are close to each other (usually, less than

10 degrees). The energies of those planets combine and intensify. Descendant: one of the four angles. That part of the horizon where the Sun and other planets set. In the

chart, the In the chart, the descendant is the beginning of the 7th house. Grand cross: two oppositions linked by four squares. Grand trine: An equilateral triangle, formed by three planets connected by 120-degree angles. In general,

this configuration favours a flow between these planetary forces. Heptagram: a mandala-like drawing of the 7 major planets. The heptagram points towards a ‘pole’ planet,

which is strong in the chart. Houses: an astrological chart is divided into 12 sectors, starting with the ascendant. Each sector is assigned

to one area of life; for instance the 8th house relates to sexuality, the 10th to career, and so on. Note: if the time of birth is not known, one cannot calculate the angles and the houses. Imum Coeli, or IC: one of the four angles. The lowest/deepest point in the vertical axis of a chart. At

midnight, local time, the Sun is on the Imum Coeli, or IC. In the chart, the IC is the beginning of the 4th

house. Kite: a grand trine with a fourth planet opposite one corner of the triangle. Gives stability and intensity to

the flow of those planetary forces. Major aspects: conjunction, sextile, square, trine, opposition. Midheaven, or MC: one of the four angles. That part of the vertical axis where the Sun reaches its highest

point. At midday, local time, the Sun is on the Midheaven, or MC. The MC is the beginning of the 10th

house. Opposition: the aspect formed when two planets are 180 degrees away. The energies of those planets

combine with a challenging effect. Nodes (North Node and South Node): the nodes are the two points of intersection of the orbits of the

Moon and the Earth. The South Node, stands for qualities developed in past lives; the North Node for future

destiny.

Orb: a perfect opposition takes place when two planets are 180 degrees apart. If they are 178 degrees apart,

the orb of the opposition is 2 degrees. Same with the other aspects. The smaller the orb, the more powerful

the aspect. Sextile: one of the major aspects, with the two planets 60 degrees apart. Square: one of the major aspects, with the two planets 90 degrees apart. Trine: one of the major aspects, with the two planets 120 degrees away.
