The building Belagtindienst Emmen, Netherlands: This is an Existing buil-ding to be refurbished and used as apartment blocks. The building was constructed in1967 and since has not been renovated, wiith this study the team is planning to reconsider some of it’s modern looks

The building is a cncrete structure with cutrain glazing all around. The Curtain walling gave the building a modern look and still is a well establis-hed modern desing. With some Refurbishment the builidng can regain its looks

The buldings use is for commeri-al, combining various of busine-ses. After the refurb the building is set to have apartment blocks with a bedroom and toilet inside. The buidling is set to have its modern look and the constuction will commence in 2017,

De Burcht

The Castle in Hoogezand is an extension of and replacement building for nursing and care . After building the new headquar-ters will be linked to two existing low-rise wings which somatic and psycho-geriatric care is provided.

Encounter, openness , clarity and visibility are key to the design in which the residents and staff at the center . A good quality of life comes out for a good living and wor-king environment . Space and openness with an eye for the human dimension. Al-ternation between intimacy and openness, between rest and activity , between internal and external orientation orientation making the design versatile, durable and humane.

n the new building , all nursing apartments designed around a large void. The two “ ends “ of the oval -shaped building are small nursing units made with 8 single rooms. Common living rooms in the heads of the building offer views of the surroun-dings. Contact with the environment is of great importance for the occupants. Society, where they no longer active part of it , it must be perceptible to them.

The Castle is trying to give every scale of the building clarity. At the level of the total volume shreds not only shows its clear design . Inside the building gives the loft about fi ve layers insight into the internal organization of the building. And on each fl oor there is a clear division of the pro-gram. Orientation , perception and appea-rance get a lot of attention and provide a pleasant building.

Apartment block Design

A brick outter facade with balconies and small residential homes in the developed design.

This was a project I was working on helpin establish the facade in Revit and the design of the exter-nal windows and doors, we had a minimumm tolerance/width between each window and door of 1m through out the building
