Washington D.C. Nueva Vida Support the Nueva Vida’s Peer Counselors Program by identifying cancer survivor support organizations in the US Northeast for peer counselor’s recruitment. Develop a list of low cost local Mental Health Support Services for Latina’s with cancer. Through these tasks the student will learn how to better communicate on a professional level with mental health professionals. The intern will be given a list of questions for each mental health site to gain information about their services for underserved, uninsured minority women. Through staff interview and document review, the intern will develop a synthesized brief document describing the best practices for Nueva Vida Programs. The intern will learn about mental health programs for underserved, minority populations through analysis and will simultaneously develop writing and interpersonal skills.

New York, NY NYU Medical Center/Children’s Hospital The Health Career Opportunity Program consists of three four-week internships that provide students with a hands-on clinical experience and exposure to the diversity and variety of health professions.
