DESCRIPTION OF APO TRANSMISSION STATION
Apo Transmission substation (AT3) which is under Transmission Company of Nigeria, Abuja sub region is a 132/33KV Substation, having the capacity of 250MVA. The Substation is connected to the National grid via Katampe 330/132KV and Kukwaba (Gwagwalada) 330/132KV
PARTICIPATION/WORKDONESAFETY DEPARTMENT
• Placing of safety tapes when work was going on,• Distribution of fire extinguishers, • Distribution of hard hats at sites • Orientation of new I.T students
ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT
• I Participated in the installation of a new Sf6 Circuit Breaker • Testing of transformer oil • Bleeding of transformer oil to remove trapped air in theConservator tank during buchhloz trip• Filling of Sf6 gas in circuit breakers• Changing of silica gel when it has absorbed so much moisture• Filtration of transformer oil when it has been carbonised due to arcing in the diverter switch
SYSTEM LINES• Repair of burnt and cut conductors with compressing Machine• Changing of burnt clamps• Grounding of Transformers and conductorswith the earthing rods, during maintenance • Replacing ruptured insulators, • Participation in Patrols which is line and tower inspection to check for faults and creeping grasses
SYSTEM OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT
• Taking and recording transformer and feeder current, voltage, power and energy usages, etc.
• General inspection of the switch yard to know the winding temperature and oil temperature
• Taking outages by opening the circuit breakers • Spring charging• Tap-changing to change the voltage levels according to voltage demand• Clearing faults detected by the relay devices to stop the annunciator

OBSERVATIONS AND CONTRIBUTIONS
• I observed we had too many cases of system collapse within my stay
• I observed that not managing the load on the transformer well leads to system collapse
• I was involved in the orientation of the new IT students.• I was involved in the installation of a new Sf6 Circuit

CHALLENGES I FACED
• Too many workers• I wasn’t given my personal protective equipment's (PPE)• Lack of allowance • Limited transportation means
