    Internship Program Guidelinesfor

    the Students of BBA 18th batch (2008-09)

    Starting and Completion Date of Internship Program:The total duration of internship program will be four months. Official internship completion date for a student will beafter 3 months from the official commencement date of internship semester. Students will get 1 month for reportwriting after the internship completion date. However, the students who will start their internship after the officialrange, they will not get the report writing time by the day they will delay in commencement.

    Topic Selection and Submission Guideline:

    Topic SelectionTopic of the internship report may be settled through mutual discussions between/among the student, internalsupervisor, and external supervisor. Before starting work on the project part, the student must obtain approval ofthe project proposal from the faculty supervisor and also from the external supervisor. The report may be basedon situation analysis, problem identification, problem solution or a research. Methodology can be observation, jobdiary, survey etc. done during the internship program. The nature of the study does not necessarily be a researchone; however, descriptive studies will not be encouraged. The study should be analytical, and may be exploratoryor conclusive. It is not required to have a causal study during the internship period.

    Form of Submission(a) Cover and visual aids can be colored but not mandatory. No text or title inside the text should be colored.

    Colored pages can be used to separate chapters/parts. The use of color should be decent and well controlled.The use of color will not add any extra value for evaluation.

    (b) Should use spiral bind. Lamination of the cover will not add any extra value for evaluation.

    (c) Paper size: A4; Font: Times New Roman; Font size (for main texts): 11 OR Font: Tahoma; Font size (for maintexts): 10); Line gap (Spacing): 1.5 (except Executive Summary single line space); Page numbering: Bottom,center (format: page X of Y); Margin (Regular): Left: 1.25, Other: 1; Margin (New Chapter Page): Left: 1.25,

    Top: 2, Other: 1.

    (d) Total Report Page limit: The maximum length of the report must not be more than 30 pages excluding Coverpage, Title fly, Title page, Table of Contents, Executive summary, Acknowledgement and the annexes.

    (e) The report will consist of two parts Organization part and Project Part. However, the Organization Part mustnot exceed 8 pages.

    (f) Referencing should follow the style ofAmerican Psychological Association (APA), 5th Edition or above.

    (g) This report should be professionally presented in an academic format. Description in details from others work

    is NOT acceptable. Failure to acknowledge the use of another piece of work is plagiarism. The evaluators will

    apply the maximum penalty for any plagiarism.

    Mode of Submission

    (a) The student should submit 4 copies of the internship report to the office of the IBA-JU for the evaluation purpose.These 4 copies should not contain the name of the student anywhere in the report.

    (b) A copy of Letter of Acceptance of the Internship Report duly authorized by the internal supervisor must besubmitted along with the Internship Report to the office of the IBA-JU. (Prescribed Form of the Letter ofAcceptance of the Internship Report is available in the IBA-JU office).

    (c) If the student is asked for a redo of the paper, then one copy should be submitted provided that the student

    have earlier submitted at least 4 copies of the original version.

    (d) In addition to 4 copies of report, another copy for the Seminar Library should also be submitted in special format.For this purpose, one copy of the report of all students should be combined and printed together and bound inmanageable volumes. Printing should be on both sides and single spaced. Soft copy of all the reports shouldbe collected and saved in a single CD organized according to roll number. CR will take the responsibility tocombine all the reports in a CD and submit it to the seminar.

    (e) It is the students responsibility to submit the copy of the report as specified by the sponsoring organization.

    Deadline of Report SubmissionThe report submission deadline for a student will be: commencement date plus four months (three months forinternship plus one month for report writing). The students who will start their internship after the officialrange, they will not get the report writing time by the day they will delay in commencement. The latestinternship commencement date is November 7, 2012. Thus students who are starting their internship on or after thatdate will require submitting their report by March 7, 2012. Students starting their internship program before thatdate must submit their report within four months from their joining date.

    No late submission will be allowed.

    DocumentationThe students should provide the following documents:

    (a) Offer Letter from the sponsor organization to prove the placement.(b) At the end of internship tenure, a Clearance Letter specifying the starting date and the completion date of the

    internship. If any student is already in full-time placement then a certification to show his/her continuation of jobsince the starting date of internship. Internship report will not be evaluated without the clearance letter from theorganization.

    (c) Before the Defense, a clearance of certificates of financial dues from the Examination Office will be requiredalso.

    Code of Conduct for the Interns

    1. The following acts will be considered as unfair means by the students:

    (a) Cheating with the internal supervisor. To submit the internship reports in very different or in highly modifiedfrom than the report consulted and agreed upon with the internal supervisor.

    (b) Inadequate consultation with the internal supervisor. To submit a report with no or inadequate consultation withthe internal supervisor.

    (c) Practice of plagiarism. To copy the whole or part of the report from any other source without acknowledging thesource.

    (d) Irresponsibility in the sponsor organization. To not fulfill the responsibilities which are deemed to be fulfilled bythe internee as per the internship offer and job description explicitly or implicitly.

    (e) Any other unfair means defined by the Academic Committee.

    The case of unfair means by a student will be forwarded to the Academic Committee for review.

    Important Criteria for GradingFollowing are some criteria (but not limited to), which will be considered in grading the student:

    Understanding about the topic

    The main problems identified with the chosen topic

    Originality of analysis, evaluation, recommendations and its justifications

    Quality of Executive Summary

    Organization of the report

    Comments of the supervisors

    Comments from the sponsoring organization
