Born: 24 April 1969

Birthplace: Glasgow

Younger years: The 6ft 7in Glaswegian began his working life as a lumberjack and was working as a painter on the Forth Bridge just before landing his first acting job.

Acting career: Although starting life as a labourer, Rory feels acting is his call and is willing to do anything to succeed, including returning to lumberjack work in 2009 to pay the bills in between acting work.

Infamous TV roles: Rory’s still widely recognisable from his advertising campaign with Scott’s Porage Oats in which he was the hunky Scotsman in the white vest and kilt. Since his days in adverts, Rory has been in various TV roles such as Monarch of the Glen, Shameless and his Bafta award winning performance as a wheelchair-bound ex-climber in Channel 4’s The Book Group.

Movie roles: Moving on from TV, Rory has been in various films including Oliver Stone’s film Alexander, Hot Fuzz with Simon Pegg and Mafia style action The Crew. More recently, Rory has starred in action packed Solomon Kane and Clash of the Titans.

Hidden talents: A keen outdoorsy man’s man, Rory loves climbing and is an all round sportsman. He is also an accomplished singer, pianist and harmonica player.

Did you know? Rory divides his time between homes in London and Glencoe and one day wishes to have his own castle there.
