Learning Objectives

• Knowledge of the historical developments which have led to the current state of the art/science.

• Understanding of the problems associated with working with images, sound and video.

• The ability to apply a suitable range of image handling / processing techniques.

• Understanding of the operating characteristics of hardware for multimedia systems.

• A solid basis for future development and study in the subject.

Teaching Organisation

• Two lectures per week for 11 weeks

• Two/Three hours of supervised laboratory work for 11 weeks.

• Assessment by Coursework only

• Course work 1– Group assignment– Video project (30%): weeks 1-6

• Course Work 2– Web CT Tests Weeks 6 and 12 (15%+15%)

• Course work 3– Individual web site assignment I (40%): weeks 6-12
