Sonic Drilling
Applications in Micropiles
What is a Sonic Drill?
A drilling system that uses the principle of resonance to drill a hole and install a casing in practically any type of ground.
Basically, the drill head is a variable frequency generator that imparts resonant energy to the drill string.
Sonic Drill Features
A Sonic Drill… Is capable of installing casing up to 12”
in diameter, in practically any material. Provides a relatively undisturbed core
sample over the entire length of the hole Drills dry – no drilling mud necessary
Sonic Samples
Till 6” Granite
Sonic Drill Features
A Sonic Drill… Produces very little cuttings, which
significantly reduces disposal costs Can be track, wheel, skid, barge, or rail
mounted. Is modular in design – for helicopter
work
Barge System
Rail System
Boston Tunnel Project
Arctic System
Sonic Drill Features
A Sonic Drill… Can be wheeled through a 42 inch
doorway Can drill under an 8-foot ceiling Can be adapted to diamond core or air
drill using a down-hole hammer Can use oil-field tubing, of various
thread forms and pipe lengths
