NARNIA FESTIVAL July 22 – August 2 FACILITIES The Narnia Festival and International Summer Training Program takes place a classical Italian style opera theater, the S. Domenico Auditorium, the University of Narni, the City Museum in Eroli Palace and several ancient churches. Church of San Francesco Church of S. Maria Impensole Opera Theater PERFORMANCES INTERNATIONAL SUMMER TRAINING PROGRAM JULY 15 – AUGUST 2 JUNIOR MASTERCLASSES July 19 – July 26 & July 27 – August 2 Innovative play-educational initiative dedicated to children from 6 years and up. In collaboration with Associazione “NOTE BLU” Under the patient and experienced guidance of highly qualified teachers, coming from major schools and international orchestras such as The Juilliard School in New York and the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, the kids will experience a week of single and group lessons, chamber music and orchestra. The Junior Orchestra is an early musical experience that will contribute to help the sense of rhythm, intonation and the ability to listen to each other, and to discover the joy of playing together. The participants of the Junior Masterclasses will feature at the Narnia Festival final concert performing "The Nutcracker" by Tchaikovsky. From July 15th to August 2nd the Narnia Arts Academy and the City of Narni will offer the fourth season of the Narnia Festival and International Summer Training Program for instrumentalists, singers and dancers. The rich program of events includes: • Private lessons • Workshops • Masterclasses • Conferences • Concerts • Shows • Exhibitions • Guided tours The Narnia Festival and International Summer Training Program was founded in order to provide students with the tools needed to become professional artists. The staff includes highly qualified, internationally renowned teachers from the most important international schools, including The Juilliard School in New York, the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory and the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia of Rome. Ample time will be dedicated to chamber music and to sacred and symphonic repertoire with orchestra. Students will have many chances to try out their improved skills in daily concerts held in the most prestigious halls and in the most beautiful archaeological sites of Narni. Weekly excursions will connect the students to the vast culture and history of Italy, offering them the same inspiration and inner enrich- ment that for centuries have influenced the greatest artists. Narnia Festival offers a calendar of performances of great appeal in balanced harmony between music, dance and theater, exhibitions, conferences, cultural activities and excursions, combining tradition and innovation. Regular participants are world-renowned artists such as Katia Ricciarelli, Danilo Rea, Carol Wincenc, Tali Roth, Silvia Duran, Luc Bouy, Pablo Garcia, seen in perfomances ranging from classical music to opera, from sacred music to jazz, from ballet to tango and flamenco. It is designed to promote the performing arts, focusing on the young talents and enrichment of their musical experience. Participants will have the opportunity to study the Italian language and deepen their knowledge of it in a context that makes use of the Umbrian region and its natural, historical and artistic wealth. For the Linguistic and Cultural Training Program Narnia Arts Academy collaborates with the Italian American Committee on Education, which – on behalf of the Italian Foreign Ministry – is responsible for promoting Italian language and culture in the United States. The International Vocal Arts Program offers singers and emerging artists an intensive program which includes private voice lessons, musical and stylistic coachings, masterclasses, rehearsals, acting, training for auditions, career strategy, Italian language classes and concerts within the Narnia Festival, culminating in performances of SUOR ANGELICA by Puccini and COSÌ FAN TUTTE by Mozart with the Orchestra Filarmonica di Roma at the historic Opera Theater of Narni.
