INNOVATION AND POWERFUL SOLUTIONSIn addition to supplying the renowned Cat engines, Pon Power invests in the research of alternative fuels. This investment helps Pon Power respond to the growing market for economical and environmentally friendly engines to counter rising fuel costs and meet stricter emission requirements.This is why the technologies we use are subject to continuous development.

For example, we successfully tested the Gas To Liquids (GTL) fuel in the generator set together with innovative partners. This fuel is extracted from natural gas and has considerably lower emission levels. Moreover, GTL fuel is biodegradable. We are also researching the potential of natural gas as an alternative fuel for diesel engines. The dual fuel technology allows the engine to simultaneously run on

two types of fuel: diesel and natural gas (LNG). This generates cleaner combustion and lowers your operating costs. A major advantage is that existing diesel engines can be modified. Another example of innovation is the hybrid propulsion system. This is a fully-automated system for vessels that require full engine capacity for only very short periods of time over the total duration of the voyage. The energy that is unused while sailing is stored in batteries.

The generator set is backed up by these batteries in situations that require additional capacity. There is also an option for full electric propulsion. The hybrid propulsion system does not only facilitate cleaner and quieter sailing, it also reduces fuel consumption, provides greater comfort, and creates an improved sailing experience.

From onboard power…Caterpillar has a broad range of generator sets for providing electrical capacity on board. Low operating costs per operating hour can be achieved with the C4.4 generator set through efficient fuel consumption and low maintenance costs.Maintenance costs are reduced by using as many integral components as possible, which minimizes the possibility of problems, and extend maintenance intervals. When maintenance is required, this process is simplified through easy accessibility from a single service side.

The rigid composition and the use of vibration isolators ensures that this compact generator set is quieter and the level of vibration is controlled. In order to reduce the noise level further, a noise-reducing casing is available as an option.

The electronic fuel regulator facilitates low fuel consumption and an appropriate response to load fluctuations. The C4.4 generator set produces a visual smoke-free exhaust and meets the most stringent emission requirements.

...to propulsionCaterpillar has the 3500C series engine for hassle-free propulsion for your ship. The engine was further developed based on the success of the 3500 series. The 3500C engine now meets the most stringent emission requirements while increasing performance and has an exceptionally good power to weight ratio.

The 3500C engine provides more available power over a wider operating range. This creates a surplus of directly available torque and power for acceleration, as well as excellent maneuverability.

The electronic control unit creates constant optimization of capacity, fuel consumption and emissions, regardless of the engine load.

Pon Power Insight.comThis telecontrol system enables you to examine the status of engines from a distance. It is possible to log into every vessel that is fitted with an Insight.com equipped Cat engine.This enables our service technicians and your technical department to rapidly and freely access information about the status of your engine so malfunctions can readily be resolved. This innovative technique can also be used to anticipate and respond to maintenance scheduling and preventative actions.

TrainingPon Power provides in-house Caterpillar trained instructors and training facilities. This creates an ideal environment for Cat engine maintenance and adjustment training either onsite or in the classroom, both for yourself and our own staff. Our trainers are focused on transferring their knowledge to you while displaying their passion and dedication to the Caterpillar brand in the process. Our commitment to training provides you with improved and faster service.

Preventative researchPreventative research ensures that your engine stays in top condition. This is why we provide a total package for preventative research. We want to prevent you being faced with unforeseen repairs and unexpected downtime at any given moment. Our complete range of preventative research comprises: the unique Scheduled Oil Sampling (S.O.S.), Technical Engine Analysis and Technical Electrical Analysis. Our laboratory tests your periodic samples for countless components during the lubricant research test.

The Technical Engine Analysis includes checking and correcting the settings and alarm functions of your engine and a general engine condition inspection. The Technical Electrical Analysis focuses on checking, testing, and making any necessary adjustments to the essential electrical components. We will immediately discuss the results of the research with you. We can also execute the Performance Analysis Report (PAR test), designed specifically for the marine industry. which provides a detailed performance analysis of your propulsion system. The regular execution of PAR tests safeguards the optimal condition of your system.

Our service package Pre-Top® agreement carries all preven-tative maintenance activities and associated costs up to the first major maintenance job. This agreement is drawn up to suit your specific situation. The inspections of the lubricants and periodic inspections of the engines are included in the Pre-Top agreement, as well as inspections of engine / propeller loads and combustion chambers using endoscopic testing.
