Introduction This booklet is intended for students, staff and alumni of the University of Stellenbosch. The

bursaries and scholarships listed here provide various means of funding to study and conduct

research outside South Africa, either as visiting, exchange or full-time international student or

researcher. The list is not exhaustive, but covers the main scholarships available as well as

scholarships made known to the International Office by funding bodies. Please note that the

information and deadlines are correct at time of publication, but are liable to change.

There are two sections: a calendar that lists the deadlines of scholarships, and an alphabetical

catalogue of the scholarships. You are welcome to visit the International Office to view the original

records and application forms of these scholarships, but where possible we suggest you contact the

funding bodies directly for the latest details and deadlines, especially where the information is

available on the internet. Note that where the contact address is given as the International Office,

you must apply through the office and not directly to the funding body. Also, where the deadline

entry is left blank, the scholarship either has more than one deadline or no fixed deadline.

Latest announcements of scholarships are frequently posted on the daily electronic bulletin of the

University and published on our website www.sun.ac.za/international (where you will also find

links to other funding bodies). Furthermore, the University’s library holds a number of books listing

scholarships for overseas study. See especially The Grants Register (published by Macmillan).

Feel free to contact us for assistance in any of these matters.
