What types of magazines has IPC been associated with over the years?

IPC has been publishing a wide range of magazines for years, with varying audiences from women of the war to housewives of the decades and sporting men to car enthusiasts. It’s most popular genre of magazines it works with are women’s home and lifestyle magazines and men’s sporting magazines, relating to our work, IPC has only two music magazines at the moment being NME and Uncut.

Why might IPC be an appropriate publisher for a new music magazine?

IPC has a wide variety of magazines and plenty of them, however their branch of music magazines is a cosy two. IPC is currently publishing 74 magazine, there are four magazines for shooting alone and yet only two for music; one is a rock magazine and the other is a pop/rock magazine. There are so many unexplored genre’s and an unexploited target audience, teenagers. IPC only publishes one magazine for teenagers, and teenagers are pretty into music so there’s definitely room there for a magazine.

What sort of genres of music magazines might be likely to publish?

IPC seem to be more lifestyle based magazine publishers based on a general section of socitety be it houswives, sportsmen, buisnessmen ect. As I say they are missing out in the fact they lack music and teen magazines. My guess is sometime in the future they will realise this and either start more of their own music magazines or buy some already popular ones to skip the process of getting it recognised

Why might alternative publishers like Bauer be appropriate.

Bauer may be more appropriate because they are a modern organisation and have a lot to offer. They know what they're doing as they own Q, Britains leading monthly music magazines so they know how to bring in the British audience and how to make a monthly magazine, how to play out certain stories. Also Bauer as said are modern and explore multiple medium to reach their audience. They use 5 primary mediums; Magazines, Radio, Television, Mobile and Internet

The mark allen group only publish two music magazines magazines; Jazzwise (Jazz) and Gramophone (Classical). Unlike IPC Mark Allen Group have the target audience of intellectuals as it publishes medical magazines and such. The music magazines do general focus on the audiences of a higher social class which would be quite good for me
