-The International Programs Team

Dear Valued EEI Member,

Last year, our industry recorded an impressive list of accomplishments that demonstrate our shared commitment to innovation and to our customers. Electric companies continued to make investments in safe, reliable, and increasingly clean energy and smarter energy infrastructure.

Worldwide, electric companies invested USD 718 billion in 2017 in new network infrastructure and generation capacity. In the United Kingdom, it was the country’s “greenest” year. Renewable energy provided an increasing share of generation and cut the sector’s carbon emissions in half compared to 2012.

Across North America and the Caribbean, our companies responded to an unprecedented series of natural disasters by putting mutual assistance programs into action to restore power to customers and to assist neighboring companies with recovery efforts.
