A few facts about F-1 students

• 1107 Total F1 Spring 2014 (4% decrease from 2013)

PCC Board Goal: 2000 F-1 students

• Each year PCC+ receives about 900 applications+ admits 600 students+ enrolls 450-500 students

• F-1 students spend an average of 3 years (or more) at PCC.

Rules & Regulations for F-1 students

F-1 students must:• Apply for a visa after PCC issues an I-20• Have $20,000 in the bank• Take12 units in Fall and Spring

PCC must:• Follow strict guidelines and account for all students

to the US Department of Homeland Security• Check on student compliance weekly

Common IS Beliefs

• 2 + 2 to save money

• School “brands” = valued commodities

• Major + brand name school = future job with higher income = family prestige

• A high GPA for transfer > stimulating classes / teachers

• “Good students” use every possible resource to get good grades and maintain GPA

• F-1 students = consumers: pay more, expect more
