A lot has changed as we look back on 2020 and many consider it a
challenging year. It really put things into perspective not only in our personal lives but professional ones as well. We’ve learned what is needed and not needed to get our jobs done and leaned on the technology available to us as a necessity rather than a luxury. As we look forward to 2021 and beyond I am incredibly honored to be the President of the IMDPA and look forward to working alongside our committed board
members to ensure that IMDPA represents and engages our industry as we adapt to change and take advantage of the technology resources in front of us to foster and encourage advances in the art of metal decorating and packaging. During these next two years, I hope to pioneer programs that will have a lasting impact on our membership and together with the board and our committee volunteers, plan to focus on increasing our value to the industry in an effort to promote the interests of our members. We will continue to build on the important initiatives our technical resources and college education committees have set forth to attract younger generations with access to educational tools and resources. We will begin to take advantage of webinar technology, social media platforms and electronic communications to disseminate fresh, new content to our membership. We will survey and listen to our member-ship to ensure we are working to be a gateway for our members to access the quality resources, innovative ideas, unlimited networking, and technical tools needed for your organization to stay one step ahead. The only thing constant in life is change and as we’ve seen this recent year change is inevitable, not only in life but in business too. As one of the industry’s longest standing associations we are committed to progressing and as we adapt to the times, there is no limit to the power and success we will be able to achieve together.

EDUCATION
The Education Committee:
A Glance at our Goals for 2021
It’s hard to believe that this will be our 3rd year of the Education Commit-tee! From the start of this newly formed committee, it’s been our goal to engage with students at various colleges and universities that teach Graphics and Packaging curriculums with the overall goal being to seek new, young talent for our growing industry. What better way to provide a means of succession planning? While 2020 certainly took a turn that was unexpected, you likely saw that we were able to award 3 students with our first annual Bill Coors Award. We are excited to continue growing this committee this year, engaging further with the schools who have previ-ously participated as well as looking to connect with several others as well. We know that 2021 will have it’s own challenges, but we are excited
to begin our efforts with these schools and students, educating tomorrow’s future about the ever growing industry that metal decorating and packaging is. We have all witnessed the increasing popularity of the alumi-num package this year more than ever and it will take fresh new faces with an eagerness to contribute as they enter the field.
We will seek to bring opportunities such as career fairs, internships, and other forms of engagement to the IMDPA through our involvement with the schools. We will be announcing our 2021 competition soon, so be on the lookout for ways that you and your company may be able to contribute to the Education Committee’s efforts as well as potentially recruiting your company’s next rising star!
