EGGSTRA-ORDINARY EFFORTS! Eggcellent Easter Celebraons Across the School The school had a celebratory theme this week as children celebrated achieving their targets, swimming cerficates and gymnascs’ awards and had a great me taking part in Easter acvies. I would just like to say a very big thank you to everyone who has donated eggs for our daily raffles in school this week. Also thank you for buying raffle ckets and making the event a success. Pupils who didn’t win have had the chance of winning an ‘Eggstra’ big prize in our special end of term assembly. Mrs Talbot and Mr Robinson had the unenviable task of choosing a winner from each class from the many eggcellent entries for the egg decorang compeon; this years theme “Investors in Pupils” provided a challenging topic but as usual pupils’ creavity was in abundance. Winners: 1 Lena Lazarz, 2 Faye Williams, 3 Jasmine Graham, 4 Olivia Bryant, 5 Megan Watson, 6 Olivier Lazarz, 7 Freddie Marn, 8 George Blackbond, 9 Una Seleman, 10 Ellie Aminy, 11 Tamara Carter ( see photos on Page 2) AM Spectacular Spring ‘Str...i...kers’! Forty seven children went to bowling as a result of their outstanding efforts with spellings and mes tables. A number of pupils scored strikes and spares and we are all proud of them. Olivier Lazarz [Y3] dominated everyone in his group, which was mostly Year 6 pupils. A few others got a strike: Emily Scholefield, Milly Moriarty and Kennedy Stansfield. Benjamin Davies-Waers and Nicholas Dawson connually assisted Kae Brisco (she was not able to bowl properly because of her broken foot). However, she got great scores with the ramp! In addion, Mohammed Hassan was seen helping Olivier at choosing the right size and weight ball that was suitable for him. Even though some people got lower scores than others, everyone kept trying to beat their best! Well done to all who managed to achieve their spellings and mes tables. If you didn't, then there is always another opportunity to try and reach it! Report by Wrien by Emily Williams and Joshua Pickering Y6. Class 5 Learn With 17th Century Teachers This week, Class 5 went on a trip to Shibden Hall. We were greeted by a man called Samuel Lister, who lived at the Hall in the 17th Century. He took us around the Hall and we learned all about what life was like at that me and we found out it was very different to life today! We also took part in two workshops. One was about the ‘Great Fire of London’ and we had great fun pung out a pretend fire in the courtyard of the hall. We had to stand in a long line, fill a bucket of water and then passed it along the line to the fire as quickly as we could, without spilling any! We had to keep going unl there was no more water leſt. The other workshop was all about ‘the Plague’. Esther Lister told us all about how people used herbs and flowers to make medicines. They also used dried herbs and flowers to make tuzzy-muzzies to help protect them from the plague. We had a go at making our own, using the herbs and flowers we liked the smell of. As it was a beauful sunny day, we were lucky enough to have a picnic lunch outside in the courtyard which we really enjoyed. Finally it was me to go back to School. We had a great me and learned loads. • GOLDEN BREAKFAST Chef Ives served up a fantastic continental breakfast which included pastries, fruit, cheese, boiled eggs and fruit juice for Mr Gallagher’s class, who won the Golden Ticket Award for good table manners and behaviour this term. Well done Mr Gallagher's class and thank you to Chef Ives! House Championship Competition Overall the position could not be closer ,with St Andrews and St Patrick’s both on 156 points, - this is due to St Andrews being clear leader in KS1 and St Patricks well out in front in KS2. Still time for it all to change in the Summer Term—keep earning your Dojos and remind your teacher to record them.
