Literacy & Capacity-Building Drive for Citizens

On the occasion of the International Workers Day 2013, The GREAT Trust, TheCouncil for Afrika International and The Afrika Liberation Society declare Solidaritywith all Workers, Students, Youth, Pensioners of the World, the International Labour,Justice Movement and Ethical Entrepreneurs for their immense contribution to thecritical Wealth Creation value chain worldwide. Simultaneously, we challenge World,Continental, Regional, National, District and Local Government to produceSustainable, Credible, Full Employment Pledges and Programs to eliminate massunemployment which undermines the Fundamental Human Rights of Citizens. Thisshould include well thought-out Employment Creation Paradigms, respectableWorking Conditions and a standardised International Minimum Living Wage for thoseat the lower ends of the labour market. For the Protection of Majority Citizens, weadvocate that any person or group of persons seeking Public Leadership Office shouldhave credible SMART Full Employment Policies to which they could be held to accountby Citizens who pay their wages. In tandem, we call for a 21st Century InternationalEnterprise Literacy & Capacity-Building Drive to facilitate the economic self-sufficiency of individuals and households worldwide for diminished dependency on

singular income sources.

For far too long the incompetence of those who have sought employment in leadershipoffices internationally, continentally, nationally, regionally and locally havedemonstrated lack of proportionate knowledge or knowhow about how to createemployment for others and these have contributed to compounding existing, seriousproblems in the territorial labour markets, stifled career and employmentopportunities, resulted in swathes of unemployment human talent pool which exactsvicious cycles of hardships upon families, dependants, relations and entirecommunities. This necessitates a New Drive for Employment Rights Consciousnessintegral to an International Fundamental Human Rights Literacy & Renaissance whichwe called for each December 10th World Human Rights Day.

One of the principal ironies of Public Service Leadership is that those who sought andcontinue to seek high office broadly fail to adopt and deliver Full Employment Policiesand Programs, [baring some of the erstwhile Socialist countries], and even whereincreased employment opportunities were created, they were unsustainable, whilsthuman needs remain scandalously unmet and crowds of human talent go waste. Inresponse, we propose that Every Corporate Leadership must pledge Full Employmentfor respective territory of jurisdiction as part of a 21st Century Contract with Citizensin exchange for high public office and in furtherance of the necessary upholding,respect and guarantee of the Fundamental Human Rights of Citizens who employ

Public Servants.

Rather to the contrary and in exacerbation, the world witnesses a strange scenariowhere those who seek public office have either, directly by choice of policy-illiteracy,arrogance or vain ideological doctrine, inflicted incidents of significant loss ofemployment and the right to earn decent living wages upon swathes of populations.In the worst of scenarios, the Citizens experience the GREAT Recession attesting tothe gross incompetence of world, regional, continental and national, regional and localleaders who slept-walked the world economy over cliff-edge which resulted inhundreds millions of forced unemployment and violation of the Fundamental Rights toEmployment crucial for a fulfilled life.

Most unethically, shamefully, unintelligently and pathetically, unwilling Victim-Citizens across are pestered with incredible tirades of verbal violence, aggression,stigmatisation, problematisation, victimisation, criminalisation, intimidation andmisrepresentation by and from the same incompetent public officials whose lack ofsophistication, insight, professionalism and policy-ineffectiveness created the crises inthe first place. In the world we live in and have come to know, you are either a Forcefor Good or a Force for Evil and the jury has been long out with damning verdicts forPublic Leadership in cahoots with reckless, greedy banking and financial institutionalleadership.

This unsightly misdemeanour of condescension and recklessness by public officials

employed and paid by Citizens across the 5 Continents of the World effectivelyundermines democracy a government of the people, by the people and for thepeople. As such, it is recommended on the occasion of this May Day 2013 for a rangeof appropriate actions to be taken to protect democracy, the ethics of democracy anddemocratic ethics before long.

In any event, a World Regime which protects the Fundamental Human Rights of a TinyMinority of world citizens to the neglect of wellbeing of Majority World Citizens is adamnation of World Leadership.

Similarly, a Continental Leadership which protects the Fundamental Human Rights ofa Small Minority of Continental Citizens to the detriment of Majority of ContinentalCitizens is equally a damnation of Continental Leadership.No less, Regional, National, District And Local Leadership Regimes that protect theFundamental Human Rights of a Disproportionate Tiny Minority against the VastMajority Of Citizens is a damnation of respective leaderships and indication ofLeadership Incompetence.

We hold that all human beings are created EQUAL with the same FundamentalHuman Rights which are sacred and it is the responsibility of leadership to fulfilCollective Fundamental Human Rights of fellow citizens who keep public leadership in

employment, not the least the direct or indirect realisation of Full Employment.

On average, Human Beings spend the best part of their lives i.e. post-school and pre-retirement lives in employment from which leadership collects taxes. The more peoplein employment, the greater the collectable tax revenue base for leadership to provideessential services e.g. fire, health policing and defence services. It would thereforesound pretty commonsensical that public leadership at all levels would demonstratekeen interest, competencies and prioritise the creation of Sustainable FullEmployment Interventions, informed by the vastly-unmet needs of populations, someof which are patently recurrent and perennial.

This degree of grotesque leadership incompetence, carried-over into the 21st Centurywas never expected after all the change mantra from the political soap-boxes on

election campaign trails since the turn of the century. To this end we call for aComprehensive Lateral Overhaul and Rethink of failed, orthodox and overly-recyclednon-paradigms towards a Sustainable Realistic Full Employment Approach thatguarantees decent, living, minimum wages for workers to reduce entrenched slavishdependency on the institution of credit, which in itself has become an unethicalbusiness full of shylocks lying in wait to prey on fear- and poverty-stricken citizens.

We further call for the launch of an International Economic EmpowermentRenaissance of Ethical Entrepreneurialism to reduce worker-dependency on singleincome sources and the inculcation of enterprise, multiple-income stream mindsets.

This requires a shift in paradigm from the orthodoxy that requires workers to committo only one work, even where in most instances real wages inflict worker-poverty, donot meet the cost of acceptable standards of living nor uphold fulfilment ofFundamental Human Rights.

Moreover, while we consider it shocking for elected leaders to reward failed financialinstitutions with record several bail-outs, streams of stimulus packages and seemingendless Quantitative Easing Injects which they have monopolised to recapitalise theirbalance sheets, it is even objectionably insane that the banks should refuse to lend toentrepreneurs and small businesses which collectively constitute the employment-creation juggernaut in all economies. Elected leadership must not condone with this

abhorrent, repugnant, habitual injustice. Either Injected Citizens funds must be

instructed to percolate through financial instruments to small and middle-sizedbusinesses or they must be returned to chest of Treasury. We find it extraordinarythat once again the banks have proven non-committal, incapable and equallyincompetent in developing innovative lending instruments, proportionate to anti-market economy government interventions of bail-outs and quantitative easing toachieve the primary object of lending to small and medium-size businesses to jump-start recession-riddled economies in the first place, which directly or indirectly stifleeconomic growth, choke-up employment and restrict taxable income potential,necessary for the reduction of public debt.

It is our considered policy opinion from available data and observable, lived, empirical

evidence across the world that needless, avoidable and non-vital credit-dependencywhich is enforced upon Citizens because of a culture of non-living minimum wages,only entrench the economic enslavement of Citizens, imposes undue pressures onworkers, their families that translate in later life to ill-health and often snowballs intocostly health expenditure for territorial economies. Forced, low wage-induced credit-dependency makes workers vulnerable, exposes them to decades of oppressiveworking environments which again culminates in unhealthy populations. In essence,low-wage regimes are false economies that return full-circle to pressurise territorialhealth budgets. There is no suggestion that decent, living wage cultures result inhealthy lifestyles, but the difference is that while low wage-induced poor health i.e. the

former, is not by choice and non self-inflicting because it is imposed, to the contrarydecent wage-induced unhealthy lifestyles i.e. the latter, are by choice and self-inflicting.

We find it disconcerting and alarming, though not surprising, that in the thick of thegreed- and recklessness-driven GREAT Recession [2008 to the present] that PublicOfficials i.e. Governments voted into power and employed to serve Citizens haveallowed the prices of essential commodities to skyrocket without taking action torectify a further victimisation of already squeezed households, families, children,youth, students and elderly Citizens. Further, indicating another failure of someGovernments misguided, if not criminal, policy of privatisation of state companies/

assets/ properties which belonged to Citizens collectively, the costs of gas, electricity,

telecoms, water, alongside food, petrol have shot through the roof, making life moreunbearable even for the majority of working Citizens, students, youth and otherdependants. The question then arises - what value do Citizens collectively derive fromPublic Officials who Citizens employ and pay including the upholding and protectionof Fundamental Human Rights?

Considering that the world has more than sufficient aggregate wealth to enable the fullrealisation of the Fundamental Human Rights for ALL world Citizens, and yet MajorityCitizens live in abject poverty with little or no employment and other fundamentalhuman rights, demonstrates leadership incompetence, a crises which requirehighlighting on International Labour Day 2013 moving forwards for the accelerated

conceptualisation, formulation and launch of a suite of Creative, Innovative andIntelligent 21st Century Paradigms of Sustainable, Credible Full Employment.Leadership comes with the responsibility to deliver Majority Citizen-friendlyFundamental Human Rights Outcomes and those who lack the competencies or areincompetent to so function should stay away from this terrain in order to forevereliminate the unjustifiable economic terrorism that many World Citizens have beensubjected to for far too long.

To a Sustainable Realistic Full Employment 21st Century & Beyond!Collective Justice, Equal Opportunities and Shared Prosperity to ALL World Citizens!!
