Eligibility All Indian students who are born on or after January 1, 2001
and, in addition, are in Class X or Class IX as of November 30, 2015, are eligible to appear in NSEJS 2015–2016. If they qualify in the NSEJS, they will be eligible for the next stage leading to participation in International Junior Science Olympiad in 2016. Students in lower or higher classes are not eligible to appear in NSEJS 2015-2016.

Exam Pattern and Stages
The International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) is a competitive examination open to students of all countries in the world, primarily studying in secondary schools. All basic subjects of Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics) are given roughly equal representation in the IJSO examination.

The Junior Science Olympiad program will follow the 5 stages.
Note:- Stage I will be entirely the responsibility of IAPT-Indian
Association of Physics Teachers.All the remaining stages will be organized by the HBCSE-
Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education

Exam Pattern in stage 1
The syllabus for NSEJS will be broadly equivalent to the secondary school level (upto Class X) of CBSE.

Exam Pattern in stage 2 Organized by HB Selection to stage 2 will be based on following scheme-A student must score equal or greater score than a minimum
admissible score (MAS) which will be equal to 40% of the maximum score in that subject.
Here the students appeared in NSEJS from each State or UT is considered the baseline. To calculate the no of qualifying students from centers of State/UT.
The no of students they select to appear for stage 2 is around 300.
Formula used to derive the state quota is- S/T*300 round of to the nearest higher integer. Here S= No. of students appeared from state T= No. of Students appeared from country

Exam Pattern in stage 2 Organized by HBCSE Eligibility : 300 Students select from Stage I examination (NSEJS) are
eligible to appear for INJSO. Tentative date:- 1st week of February. Duration : 3 Hours
Syllabus : The syllabus for INJSO will be broadly similar to NSEJS. The syllabus is, however, only a broad guideline. Question and problems in National Olympiads are usually non-conventional and of high difficulty level, comparable to International Olympiads.

Stage – III Orientation Cum Selection Camp (OCSC) Organized by HBCSE in April to June for 2-3 weeks. Eligibility for OCSC : Around 35 students select from the merit list of Stage II (INJSO 2013)
will be eligible for OCSC 2013 in Junior Science.The camp will include several theoretical and experimental tests.
The merit list of OCSC in Junior Science will be prepared on the basis
of the combined theoretical and experimental score aggregated over all the tests in the camp, with 60% weightage for theory and 40% weightage for experiment.
Top 6 students were selected as special merit awardees which are given Rs 5000 each in the form of books.
Note:-The 12 special merit awardees in Junior Science given at the end of the OCSC

Stage – IV PDT:- Pre-Departure Training Organized by HBCSE in the month of July.
Pre-departure Training (PDT) Camp for IJSOThe selected 6 member student team will undergo a rigorous training program at HBCSE in theory and experiment. Special laboratories are being developed at HBCSE for the purpose of experimental training. Resource persons from HBCSE and different institutions across the country will train the students.
