Special requirementsAccommodation is available for students with disabilities or health needs, mature students, and for those with special requirements for cultural or religious reasons – including some alcohol-free and single-sex flats. You can study at an English-speaking university or one requiring a foreign language, and your time abroad will be fully accredited by Bristol. Our prestigious partner universities include the University of California, the University of Sydney, the University of Hong Kong, the University of Barcelona and many more around the world.

We also offer numerous shorter study abroad experiences: semester-long programmes for some courses, summer schools and even options that run for a few weeks. Current examples include a Chinese culture and language summer programme in Beijing and an intensive global leadership scheme in association with Santander.

Work abroadModern languages students have the option of completing a work placement in another country, and some science and engineering courses may give you the chance to spend your year in industry abroad. The Careers Service also supports students who are interested in working overseas during the summer break or after graduation.

PhD Research Mobility Programme The Research Mobility Programme, in partnership with the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN), offers funding for PhD students to pursue their research for a short period at a WUN partner institution abroad. This is a chance to collaborate with renowned academics, gain experience in new working environments and build international research networks: bristol.ac.uk/wun/funding/rmp.

A-Z CoursesWe offer 400+ courses across a range of levels. Use this index and our online course finder to select the one that’s right for you.What you can study• Pre-sessional English language courses

and foundation programmes;

• Undergraduate courses, leading to a bachelor’s degree;

• Postgraduate taught programmes, leading to a master’s degree;

• Postgraduate research programmes, such as PhDs and professional doctorates.

Undergraduate coursesThe University of Bristol offers more than 200 undergraduate degree programmes (eg BA, BSc, LLB). You can immerse yourself in one subject through a Single Honours degree or take Joint Honours and study two subjects alongside one another.

Most undergraduate courses are three years long. You may be able to take an additional year abroad or in industry during the middle of your degree. In many science, engineering

and medical science courses you can choose a four-year Integrated Masters degree (eg MEng, MSci). Dentistry, Medicine and Veterinary Science degrees usually take five years.

Postgraduate taught programmesThese courses (eg MA, MSc, MRes, LLM) combine taught units with a research project, and are studied over one year or occasionally two. A taught postgraduate degree can help you specialise in a certain area, expand on your undergraduate interests or discover a new field of study.

Postgraduate research programmesOn a postgraduate research degree, also known as a doctoral programme, you will conduct original research under the close supervision of academic experts.

A Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) is the most common research degree, normally representing three to four years of full-time study.

Our one-year or two-year Masters by Research degrees include a structured research project, and can be a valuable foundation for starting a PhD.

Professional doctorates (eg EdD, EngD, DEdPsych, MD) are typically suited to specialist practitioners already qualified to an advanced level, who wish to deepen their knowledge.

International degree preparation coursesOur pre-sessional courses and foundation programmes are the ideal preparation if you need to improve your English language or academic knowledge before starting university.

Use our online course finder for full programme details and entry requirements: bristol.ac.uk/study.

CITY

Work is due to begin on our new Temple Quarter campus in 2019. The £350 million campus is part of a major redevelopment of the Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone to the east of the city centre.

Clifton Village is a collection of beautiful Georgian houses, squares and arcades. It is a top spot for café culture, bordered by the green expanse of the Downs and the world-famous Clifton Suspension Bridge. Our East Residential Village spans the streets between here and our main campus.

Bristol’s city centre offers high-end and high-street shopping, music venues, markets and our West Residential Village.

Our main campus lines the leafy streets of Clifton, with Royal Fort Gardens bordering the HH Wills Physics Building at its centre.

The impressive Wills Memorial Building at the top of Park Street marks the entrance to our campus.

University of Bristol Clifton campusCabot Tower sits at the summit of Brandon Hill. There are great views from the top overlooking this green haven, which is just five minutes from our main campus.

Bristol’s Harbourside bustles with lively bars, restaurants, museums and attractions and is a focal point for festivals and markets all year round.

Spike Island and Cargo are among South Bristol’s creative landmarks. With yoga studios, live venues and pop-up exhibitions, this area is a summer favourite.
