The Industry Innovator in Residence initiativeQueensland has an enviable record as a progressive centre for international education, training and research, and the Queensland Government is unequivocally committed to making international education a cornerstone of the state’s economic and cultural future.

The (IET) Industry Innovator in Residence initiative is just one of the new ways we are putting that commitment into action.

It presents an outstanding opportunity for world-class thinkers in international education and training to pursue their vision, whilst also contributing to the state’s bold ambition.

Do you have what it takes to become an Industry Innovator in Residence?

If you do, you will have the opportunity to work in collaboration with like-minded people, with the full support of the Queensland Government. You’ll have access to influencers in industry and the education sector. You’ll have the chance to promote the project widely and potentially gain recognition through an extended network of partners.

In return, the Queensland IET sector will gain the opportunity to work with you, benefit from your knowledge, be inspired by your vision and share in your philosophies and ambitions.

We are looking for world-class thinkers – true innovators - to work on significant and relevant projects that have the capacity to transform IET in Queensland.

A key part of a major programThe Industry Innovator in Residence initiative is an important part of the Queensland Government’s ‘International Education & Training Strategy to Advance Queensland 2016-2026’. See the full strategy at www.tiq.qld.gov.au/iet-strategy/about-iet-strategy/.

The strategy is led by Trade and Investment Queensland’s International Education and Training Unit (IETU) in partnership with Queensland’s diverse education, training and research sector.

The strategy features 36 initiatives and is designed to mark out a path for the development of International Education and Training in Queensland over the next decade.

Queensland is already a thriving centre for international education. The state has more than 110,000 international student enrolments, with the sector contributing more than $3.25 billion to the Queensland economy in 2016.

This initiative is one of many projects designed to drive Queensland’s education and training capabilities even further forward.

An outstanding opportunity for world-class thinkers in international education and training to pursue their vision.

What we plan to achieveTrade & Investment Queensland intends that in forming partnerships with the best thinkers in the international education sector, this initiative will position Queensland international education and training as world class.

We are looking to appoint highly qualified, progressive thinkers to apply their expertise to policy and project problems, and help deliver positive results for the IET sector.

We also encourage Innovators to develop their own projects in the context of the Queensland international education market, forging connections with industry and making use of the state’s considerable resources and networks to enhance and accelerate their progress.

In doing so, you will have a rare opportunity to influence policy and programming for the IET sector.

Key facts about the programTo be eligible, your proposed project must meet the objectives of the IET strategy and directly align with one or more of the initiatives.

As an Industry Innovator in Residence, you would initially be appointed for between one and six months, depending on the nature of your project and the key deliverables.

You would be encouraged to work primarily, but not exclusively, on location in Queensland and throughout regional areas, depending on the nature of your project.

IET innovators from anywhere in the world are eligible to apply.

Innovators will be selected on merit, and up to three innovators may be appointed per annum.

Innovators will be selected via an Expression of Interest process, of which this document is the first part.

By forming partnerships with the best thinkers in the international education sector, this initiative will position Queensland international education and training as world class.

If you are shortlisted, you will be invited to give a 10 minute pitch presentation via video conference.

Candidates selected will be at the discretion of TIQ and the IETU has absolute discretion in funding decisions and can not consider submission after the closing date.
