About the ASTR
Associa�on of Structural Rehabilita�on (ASTR) is a non-profit organisa�on established in the year 2008 to promote and develop the science and technology of structural repairs, retrofi�ng, and rehabilita�on. Associa�on of Structural Rehabilita�on is an associa�on of like-minded engineers; who are interested in the specialized area of structural repairs, rehabilita�on and retrofi�ng. ASTR conducts seminars, workshops and maintains a library consis�ng of films, records and literature related to the methods and prac�ces in the field. The associa�on maintains a na�onal directory of prac�sing engineers, academicians and contractors working in the area of repairs, rehabilita�on and retrofi�ng of structures.
Civil infrastructures define the historical, economic and development status of a country. Civil infrastructure includes but not limited to heritage structures, residen�al buildings, office/factory/commercial buildings, lifelines such as roads, rail, and hospitals. Structures when exposed to harsh environmental condi�ons lose theiraesthe�c as well as strength. New structures constructed using reinforced concrete or fully steel can also havenumber of performance issues. Large numbers of rela�vely new structure collapse every year even under service loads. Condi�on assessment of structures when exposed to natural events such as earthquakes, extreme winds, cyclones, tsunami is also not straight forward. Thus, the condi�on assessment and strengthening of civil infrastructure is a complex and inter-disciplinary field
About Conference
Considering the socio-economic aspects related to the proper maintenance of civil infrastructure, the condi�on of structures need to be periodically assessed. To improve the performance, the structures need to rehabilitatedor retrofi�ed a�er proper assessment. Otherwise, the poten�al losses can be very significant and cannot be accurately quan�fied. Advancements in construc�on technology and materials has made the condi�on assessment and strengthening process easier. To fill the knowledge gap in this highly interdisciplinary area, regular conduct of workshops/conferences is required. Interna�onal conference on Repair Rehabilita�on of Structures “ICRRS19” aims to achieve this objec�ve. ICRRS-19 provides a pla�orm for the research community, prac�cing engineers, contractors, academicians and government agencies to jointly discuss various aspects of
ASTR “Guideline On Structural Rehabilita�on and Retrofi�ng ” will be released during the Interna�onal Conference.
