Overview:

The International Business Ethics

and Compliance Certificate

Program is designed to allow Ethics and Compliance Officers, lawyers, business professionals and MBA students to experience the business environment abroad in England and France, as well as expose them to the rapidly changing market conditions of a global economy. A key focus of the course is for both MBA students and Ethics and Compliance professionals to develop an understanding and awareness about the ethical implications of conducting business internationally.

Description: During this interactive and highly experiential journey, participants will meet with compliance officials of leading international companies such as L’Oreal, BP, Transparency International, and the Institute of Business Ethics, all while traveling with a combination of ethics and compliance officers and professionals from leading organizations, Xavier MBA students, and a preeminent ethics expert, Professor Paul Fiorelli, who leads the excursion. Throughout the trip, participants will have the opportunity to meet, discuss and hear ethical quandaries with top ranking officials in both casual (during meals) and official (at corporate offices) settings. The program includes a number of meals, hotel accommodations and a variety of cultural immersion experiences, including visits to the Tower of London, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Louvre and Les Miserables in London’s West End. Please note: European travel requires an extensive amount of walking. Participants may walk several miles a day and will rely mainly on walking and public transportation to travel to the various destinations throughout each day.

Professor Paul Fiorelli, J.D., M.B.A.

Professor Paul Fiorelli is the Co-Director of the Cintas Institute for Business Ethics at Xavier University. Professor Paul Fiorelli has been the lead faculty on over 20 international trips to Europe, focusing on London and Paris. He has an extensive professional network in the Ethics and Compliance field. Professor Fiorelli received both his law and M.B.A. degrees in 1981, has taught at Xavier University since 1983 and has been a tenured, Full Professor since 1994. He has received the following teaching awards: (1) the Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence in 2003, 2005 and 2006, (2) Teacher of the Year for the Williams College of Business in 1995 and 1997, (3) the Teacher of the Year for Executive MBA's in 1992, 1997 and 1999, and (4) the Lamp of

Knowledge Teaching Award for the General Electric MBA program in 2002.

Professor Fiorelli actively advises in the area of business ethics and has provided workshops and presentations to groups and companies, including: AK Steel, AIG, ALICO, Association of College and University Auditors, Bell-Textron Helicopter, BP, Cinergy, the Conference Board, the Defense Industry Initiative, Eli Lilly & Co., Ethics and Compliance Officer Association, Ethics Resource Center, Fifth Third Bank, Fort Washington Investment Advisors, General Dynamics, Honda of America, Mead-Westvaco, Microsoft, Northrop Grumman, the Ohio Society of CPAs, Sears, Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics, Toyota, the Practicing Law Institute, US Oncology, Wal-Mart, Walsh Construction, and Western-Southern Life Insurance.

*Approximate Travel & Expenses fees are $4,500 based upon actual 2016 costs with round trip coach airfare from Cincinnati, OH. Participants will enjoy their own single rooms in London and Paris.
